I get a piece of 20'x25' plastic from Menards and
Place on floor you will need to center plastic where you plan on putting car.
Pull car in on it
Throw car cover on
Pull plastic over car cover and seal with duct tape.

Been doing this to my 70 Dart for 15 years and my dads 69 Hemi Road Runner for 20+ years. Plan on doing this to Viper in another week. Always do it on a low humidity day.

My Viper is up on a 4 post lift with a daily driver in and out every day underneath it. Is there anything special I should do besides the list MoparSteve provided?

My Battery Tender Plus just plugs into the cigarette lighter. Very easy

There was a post a few days ago about the car bubble thingys, you could always look into one of those? They will protect the car from dust, minor bumps, bugs and moisture. I have a Carcoon Veloce and love it.

on another note...i bought a trickle charger. whats the best place to hook it up?

Did you get a Battery Tender or a trickle charger? There really is a difference. I believe a conventional trickle charge sends juice to the battery continuously in an effort to keep it "topped up". Trouble is, it still sends juice to the battery when it is already fully charged - not great for the battery. A Battery Tender sends juice to the battery only when it needs it (the little box has boards and IC's and stuff in it that trickle chargers don't) and is much better for the health of your battery.

Assuming you got a Tender, attach the leads to the ground and positive underhood (near the PCM)...there should be enough pigtail so you can reach it through the gill when you need to plug in. I recall a thread with pix of this about a year ago.....

Okay, so I read all the posts....interesting!:eater: I have my covered with flannel sheets I "borrowed" from my son and they work fine, very little dust and no moisture issues.

As far as storing, I'm old school and never stored any of my Harleys in the winter...I would just wait until it was dry outside and take them for a spin every few weeks to keep everything moving and the battery charged. I do the same with the RT, especially since I live on a mile or so semi-private road and can just drive around near my house to give the car "exercise". I do an oil change when the spring comes and I know I will be using the car more. Of course, mine is more of a garage queen and makes little difference to me when I change my oil...as long as I change it.

I think you guys go through an aweful lot of trouble to not drive your cars....unless you are in an endless snow area and just can't. I'm not criticizing, to each his own....just not my thing!:headbang:

I've heard about folks that keep a piece of carpet between their tires and garage floor for storage. Anyone know if this is something of value or just one more ritual to go through?

Luckily the winters here allow for drive time. If there's no frozen stuff or salt brine out on the roads, its perfect for a drive. 'Cept my RT looks foolish with the OEM hard top installed. :)

Some who have painted garage floors put cardboard or carpeting under the tires when the car is going to sit for a long time.....I guess to prevent the pant from sticking to the tires and peeling up. Otherwise I have no idea why that's done.....

spot on advice best to drive the car every nice day you can...It will lub all moving parts, stop the gaskets from drying out, and always get the car out on the road to warm up the exhausts..That way no harmful acids can deteriorate the exhaust system by just revving the car in place.
The car will not build up carbon by idling in ones spot on . Many benefits in driving the car a few miles every few weeks.

I asked them and yes they do ship to canada, but id have to get a converter and they do not guarntee it would work. how much power do those fans take

Hey dude, only info I found on the website was that they use "two 12-volt 220ma ventilators". I can look on the actual packaging if you need more. Also, all Carcoon brand systems come with a power system that is also combined with a battery maintainer. So, you plug the unit into the wall...then plug one cord into the actual Carcoon and another cord to your car's battery (clips, ring terminal or cigarette lighter). If you don't like the free standing version like I have they also have a normal bubble that is not supported with a frame. The picture of the bubble you quoted above is of a CarCapsule brand bubble. Im sure they're all pretty much the same thing. I think the CarCapsul is less expensive though?

Carcapsle seems to be about 1/4 of the price. Sounds good to me...after Christmas season though :(

Darth, I was referring to you guys up North in Canada (and close by), where it's darn cold and snows all the time in the winter. For you, I can see why storing is the only thing you can do. For me, in the winter, if the streets are relatively clean and dry, I see no reason why I can't drive my car....

Wasn't criticizing, just stating my opinion that it is a lot of trouble to go through if you don't live in a snow belt area.
