I recently installed a new head unit into my 02 RT/10 and used the existing wiring (including the factory 8 pin DIN plug) and amp. I received the following information from Crutchfield which some of you might find useful. Most of it was already available in the Service Manual.

One other tidbit, the schematic for the stock Alpine head unit wiring harness and the DIN connector is printed on the top of the Alpine head unit.

From Crutchfield.com:

The DIN cable at back of radio provides the audio signal and turn on lead to the factory amplifier (located in left rear cargo area). As you are aware, we don't have a wiring harness available for the Dodge Viper and the new radio must be hardwired in at radio location for power/ground/etc., and speaker wire must be run to amp location or to the speakers directly for bypass. We do have some limited information available that may be useful to you, which I've cut & pasted below:

Charles, does your stock head unit have a single CD player integrated? If so, this would represent and upgrade to me for my 96...PM me if you would consider selling it.

thx
