Decided to try some exhaust mods to smooth out the sound and eliminate some cockpit resonance. For those of you in the DFW area, I highly recommend Kinney's Muffler Shop in Bedford at 817-282-3700 ask for Kirk the owner. They do fantastic work and carry all the major brands including Corsa (too quiet for me) and just about any exhaust tips you can imagine. Kirk did my '03 Anniversary Cobra with a complete motor back Magnaflow system and I was very impressed with the sound and workmanship so I decided to experiment with his help on a less resonating sound for my Viper. BTW, Kirk has a complete video library of the cars they've done with various systems installed that you can see and hear in Dolby surround sound to help you decide what you prefer. I have H M S 1.75 headers, hi-flow cats, dynaflow cylinders in the side sills and 3" pipes front to rear. The sound is loud like I like, however, the resonance in the cabin was giving me headaches on drives over a half hour. I decided to try some dynamax 9" racing bullet mufflers in the rear first. They did muffle the sound some but the resonance was still there and I actually missed the popping and burbling sound when down shifting that they took away. Next I tried a Magnaflow combination 3" X-pipe within a muffler. Took care of the resonance but way too quiet for me. Next a Magnaflow 3" X-pipe. That took some resonance away to the point that I can live with it and kept the loudness I like and improved the sound which is now a smoother and a little deeper tone. Just thought I'd share my research and maybe save some of you some time and money looking for the right exhaust note. Here's the pics:
