Catch Can Plumbing Help

I'm finishing up my Roe SC install, and am looking at Roe's recommendations on modifying the crankcase breather.

"Option #1: Leave the original valve cover breathers in place, which run together to the air filter housing.
Option #2: Use a push in valve cover breather(s) vented to a catch can. This requires putting a hole, slightly less than 1.25”, in the valve cover."

I don't want to use Option 1, for obvious reasons of oil intake into the manifold. But, I'm not clear on how to plumb Option 2. Roe sells a crankcase breather that replaces the oil cap on the passenger side valve cover. Is this sufficient, or do I need to cut the hole? I assume I plug the ****** on the front of the passenger side valve cover, vent the driver's side ****** and the oil port breather to the catch can, and then plumb the catch can to the intake box. Is this correct?

Thanks for any help!

I just had this done on my Gen1 ROE. When I first had the kit on, I had the stock breather on the driver side and the ROE breather on the pass side. I was still getting oil in the air intake. My intention was to have the car out of the track for DE events, so the heavy braking was likely to shoot more oil into the air intake. I put two of the ROE breathers on my valvecovers. After that, I was still getting a lot of crankcase pressure, enough to cause the dipstick to leak oil. We did a leakdown test, and it was fine.

So, Chris Pharr, a Viper Tech who did the install, put in a Gen3 dipstick and a catchcan assembly. This completely solved the problems, and the car performed great on the track.

We used the ROE breather main bodies that I had bought as the connection to the valve covers and stainless steel hoses to route to the catchcan. We did one hose from each valve cover. You will need to drill out the valve cover on one in order to get the ROE breather on it. I'll send some pics of the setup, if you would like.

Dave, I don't see anything in the illustrated upgrades from DY. I looked there first, and then again today.

It is very easy. The abridged version is you take the vent tube that attached to the air filter housing and attach it to the catch can. You will have to switch some fittings around as many people mount the catch can on the opposite side of where the vent tube attaches to the air filter housing.

Thanks guys. Turns out if you click on the "How-Tos", you will only see older illustrated upgrades. If you go through the new VCA home page, you see all of the newer ones.

PBV, I would say leave your valve covers stock and consider not using the Roe Oil fill breather cap as well. I found it worked well, but disliked the manner bywhich one removes it to add oil. Using the illustrated Guide you can really add any after market breather you would like...and there are alot of them.

Also, a conversation with Big Dave will reveal that there are a few more important tricks to stop oil blow back. Well worth the call.

P.S. I've contact VCA about the strange lettering appearing throughout that illustrated due to the swap over....we will see if they can fix it.
