Speed with Soft Top

My front latches have a handle from the inside that you twist to lock.

The early ones had a small roll pin driven thru across the lever shaft. It engaged under a stiff piece of wire in the windshield header receptacle. With too much air pressure at the header, the wires would deflect up, the roll pins would lose contact and the top went sailing.
In my new '93, I hit a hundred or so with the top on a few times. But I was already hearing of failures so I didn't do it very often.

The soft top will come off at exactly 147mph. I have confirmed this.
Keeping the front latches tight so there is no air gap between the windshield to and seal is critical.
The is an adjustment if you remove the latch.

Mine has come off at 75. At which point it was never ever used again. Model year 94. Autoform to the rescue. But making a statement about precise speeds is nonsense. Prevailing winds, and gusts, etc. c’mon

These tops break pretty easily, don't assume anything, but if it is the original top, then yes.
