Def has all to do with the driver!!! And I know of at least one other GEN 4 in the 10s with no mods. Regardless like I said you have the bricks stacked against you with this car and the lack of performance SRT handed you. So hats off to you Tony!!
Jamie Furman with a 2008 Viper ran a 10.92 at 129.79 on stock tires with a slower 1.76 60' time.
Great run Tony, SRT gave you nothing to work with over a GEN 4. Between gearing and what seems to be poor engine calibration the bricks are definitely stacked against you.
Serious?? Resale value is what your concerned with?? Then you may want to buy a Ford GT or a H1 Alpha. Those are the only recently American made automobiles that are going up in value.
If you understand my thread im not raging on the car. As you can see its titled, It doesn't suck!! Becasue it...
I can swing it no problem. Honestly if I cant modify the car, ( power wise ) I wont be buying one. I modify all my cars to the power level that I enjoy. My Gen III I added twin turbos. I dont have a car in my stable with less than 750 HP.
Im glad your enjoying the car more than any other...
With all due respect, when the Gen IV came out how many people that didn't buy the car complain about it or say they were disappointed? I don't recall many threads at all. And those that did buy the car were happy with the upgrade from the Gen III. And the major upgrade was... power and performance.
If feel I speak for many of the realists on this forum who keep getting bashed for speaking their mind or in my mind the truth.
The New Viper does not suck!!!!
Its getting real old reading post after post of people bashing (mostly current owners of the gen V) the realist about what is...
Turbo 400??? May want to move into the 21st century. Corvette hasn't used that in decades. Try the 6L80.
Good luck adding a 200 shot without being able to manipulate fuel pressure in the car due to an ECM that no one has been able to hack into. Or even cares to, due to a lack of ROI.
Good brother. It just made January's Vette Magazine. Was gonna sell it for a new Viper but.....
Hit me offline or PM if you would like. Hope all is well Kristopher.
Minimum 735 hp
Off road PCM with ability to calibrate offered by MOPAR
True forged internals with no more than 9.5:1 compression
SMG or automatic option
I have owned Vipers and corvettes over the past 22 years and I currently own a ZR1. I was looking forward to buying a new Viper. I went to the unveiling in NYC spoke with Ralph about the performance of the car and possible performance parts and ECM calibration capabilities. He said yes they will...
We will be lucky to see the Viper produced after MY 2015. If it makes it that long.
Lack of sales due to lack of performance.
Why are people comparing the C7 to the Viper? Because the performance is not that far off on the base car for half the price. And when the high performance C7 comes out...
It takes alot more skill to road race one of these cars to its full potential versus drag racing. The Viper is definitely a beast on a road course, but how many people can drive it to its maximum level?
A drag strip is much easier for most folks to get to less time consuming and definitely...
I would have to say that your delusional if you think the car will pick up .3 with a .1 improved 60' time. I drag race often with a car that runs mid 9s at close to 150 and if I net .1 on my 60' I end up with about .15 on the big end occasionally and very occasionally I have gains close to .2...
I dont mean the sky is falling by any means. I would have and Im not the only one who would have expected more after 3 years of a hiatus and a benchmark set by other companies that would have been easy enough to meet or beat. Time will tell and I can only expect things will improve.
I agree, the interior is pretty damn nice compared to the past cars without a doubt. My point enitrely is I hope that SRT does pick up in the performance area across the board. Hell we (and I use that term loosely) were all hoping for 700 HP and we were all hoping the car would easily beat the...
What it seems people keep forgetting is the pretty respectable 60' time of 1.7x. The ET is not going to improve by much more as the 60' is going to be hard to improve with the long first gear in the car. It maybe has another .15 at best so I dont see this car getting into 10.8s anytime soon...
The gen 5 will be hard pressed to get a 1.5 60' helping it get to the 10s due to the very tall first gear that's in it now. This is why the car
Bogged so much yesterday no matter how hard it was launched to the point where the clutch was really getting smoked and weak. It was
Great to see the...
So SRT sent a base Viper to Palm Beach international Raceway to have some independent drag racing done with the car. By independent I mean no one is being paid to review the car, it was sent to a regular car guy ( who can drive i might add) who happens to have some good connections and was...
I too am amazed at all the people that want to put their heads in the sand and take this like a personal hit and ignore that fact that Ralph and the SRT group did not complete the mission.
Proven twice that this car is sub par to an outgoing model corvette. Truly not acceptable.
So why close...
