    Broken fan - What Now

Some people hear that only a New Assembly will work, then say 'oh' with a sad face. I hear that and say 'scr ew that, I'll find something that'll fit and work for 30% the price, max.' It's just a fan, and every ICE car has to have a fan of some sort to cool.

    Broken fan - What Now

I'll say that on heavy equipment - hydraulic cooling fans are preferred. They are load sensitive and throttle up and down seamlessly. All the machines have robust hydraulic systems with multiple pumps - steering, implement, cooling and some have full propulsion provided by hydrostatics. Massive...

Check engine light on 93 Viper

Read the "blinky-code" in the message center. Cycle the key as above, then count flashes for first and second digit. If there are multiple codes, there's a short pause between blink sets. When you get to the end, it blinks an end sequence with no second digit pause. It's slow, but it works and...

    Brake Light Question

The elemental rawness of the Gen 1 is so unique and engaging! Coming from big-block and Hemi Mopar muscle cars, the Gen 1 was a huge technological step forward, but still quite raw. When I took my GTS for a first test drive, it was so much more refined, and so much easier to drive fast. I went...

    stock or after market replacement

I've used 4 different brands of wires on my cars over the last 30 years. I'll be sticking with Scott. Choose your color, silicone or fiberglass outerbraid. https://sparkplugwires.com/dodge-viper-wire-set-gen-i-iii/ You'll have to remove the intake manifold to change out the wires. With the...

    Gen 2 radiator isolator bushings

Story complete: I ordered the Dakota radiator bushings from Summit. They are larger in all dimensions except flange thickness. I was particularly worried that they would not pass thru the shim holes, but with some silicone grease they worked fine, without a mm to spare. The radiator studs are...

Why does my parking brake get loose?

This happens to my car occasionally. I don't know exactly what causes it, but I have had issues with the torsion springs getting coil-bound on the rear caliper levers and the levers getting stuck. The handle mechanism in the cockpit has greased teeth that dry out over the years, but I don't...

    Viper hub with 5-bolt pattern?

Very Cool! For others' info - the Plymouth Prowler had 5-bolt hub flanges and used the same bearings as the Viper.

    Gen 2 radiator isolator bushings

These are NLA from Dodge, but they were also used to support the intercoolers on mid-90's RAM-Cummins engines. The n ipples have two different diameters, but the flanges are the same. Has anybody seen something like this out there in rubber, or urethane?

Who Made These Radiator Air-Bleeder Valves?

Do you have a '94+ with the header tank on the RH fender? This filler/bleeder setup works great for them. Early Gen 1s- not so much.

VIN - another "where is it?" thread.

There are quite likely more hidden VIN locations all over the car. The locations are not widely disclosed so that auto theft chop shops are unlikely to scrub all the VIN info from the car. I know that back in the muscle car era, there are something like 6 parts of a Mopar car with partial VIN...

    Gen. 2 Head gasket time

Dan, you are one of a handful of folks I know that would have done it. As a 1-man endeavor, it's extremely difficult. I just spent the time and effort to remove, mark and die-stamp my damper so I could perform it solo. I also put an ARP bolt in the crank to make it easier to get a bite on with a...

    Door Hinge Wires

More than anything else, the problem is really bad articulation geometry. The copper strands in the wires get bent back and forth each time, they work harden and fracture.

    Gen. 2 Head gasket time

A Leakdown test on a Viper V-10 is more than a little bit of a problem because the firing order alternates by 54 and 90 crank degrees over a 720 degree cycle. If you've got a helper to feel for compression in each cylinder as it comes up, it makes it do-able. But then, there's the problem of...
