    carbon fibre bonnet security stays

Hood (bonnett) pins? You have to find a relatively level, flat area on the inner fender well. You will need access to the bottom to spin the locknuts for height adjustment. You'll also need to look for a good area on the hood to drill thru the support structure. A dab of grease on top the pins...

    Engine serial Number

This thread is for Gen 2, '96 and '97 blocks, but is still useful: https://www.viperalley.com/threads/any-spark-plug-experts-out-there.297877/page-3?post_id=4707407#post-4707407

    Engine serial Number

Yes, the casting number can be decoded for date of manufacture. If the VIN matches, the door tag can tell you within 2 days of when the motor went in the car.

    Texas Emissions test

If you register in a county that is "Non-Attainment" for Ozone, they will still test you after the safety inspections go away. DC Performance in LA has been building high HP Vipers that meet strict CARB limits. A phone call would be a good Idea...

    Gen 4 KW shock???

Slide the body into a lathe chuck and snug it down. Place a stiff round rod thru the clevis to stop the fork from rotating. That should unscrew it easily.

    Lower Gen 2

Most people go way too far when lowering and it makes for nervous handling. Keep it modest. If you are primarily wanting the wheel well gaps to tighten up, then going to 27" tires will do that. You can run higher aspect ratio sidewalls on your current wheels, or plus-size your wheels and keep a...

Rattling and imbalance on the engine

You can access the crank damper bolt without removing g the pulley, but it's awkward. (6) 1/2" hex bolts and the pulley is off.

    96 dipstick indicator

I used a couple tie wraps that I could slide over the tee handle to keep it from pushing out quite as bad. I think the primary culprit is blowby pressure. Lots of surface area to push against.

    96 dipstick indicator

Before I did the screw-down cap mod on my GTS, it would push the dipstick out under high engine loads at the track quite regularly.

Very obviously a wet liner block - so Gen1. Also, no t-stat/CCV outlet behind timing case, so not Gen2.

    European Rt/10 exhaust replacement

I actually bought a Euro exhaust system for my 93 that I was going to install, but ended up trading the car on my GTS. I studied the later setup and found the turn-ins from the side sills come farther toward the middle than the 2 muffler BUX setup. You may be able to use the full G2 rear set and...

Now that you've earned your stripes - next time, put some silicone grease on a Q-tip, then apply inside the rubber boots before pressing onto the coil towers and plugs.
