    2003 srt speedo reading incorrectly

Do you know anything else about the car? I suppose maybe it could have had different tires on it at some point in the past and maybe someone reprogrammed it then and never changed it back, but I'm not even sure if that's a thing on these cars or not. 5 mph off isn't great, but at the same time...

    2003 srt speedo reading incorrectly

I would think the only thing that could throw it off would be different sized tires. I do believe it runs off of the ABS tone rings, so it's reading directly at the wheel and gears wouldn't affect it, so the only thing left is tire diameter. What size has it got on it?

BCM won't communicate... cannot read DTCs from PCM either

I haven't necessarily removed that module itself, but I've likely taken things apart to the point I could get to it. Off the top of my head I'd say you probably only have to go as far as pulling the plastic surround off of the main dash panel and maybe the main instrument cluster. I did a big...

BCM won't communicate... cannot read DTCs from PCM either

Taking all the interior out isn't actually all that bad, though you do need to be a bit careful with the plastics. I've done it far too many times on my car for various reasons over the years, lol.

Gen 3 vs 4 blocks and cranks

Makes sense, I'll be sure to double check everything. Thanks for the heads up! Good to know the external parts shouldn't cause any issues at least.

Purchasing help between SRT or ACR

I have a feeling prices probably aren't going to be getting better any time soon, especially on ACRs, so I'd try to keep my eye out sooner than later. You also potentially have some options even there depending on what exactly you are going for. There were really two or three different levels...

BCM won't communicate... cannot read DTCs from PCM either

Hmm, I wonder if it's a wiring issue at that point if it's faulting with various different BCMs, even known good ones. When you say ODB scanner, do you mean just a generic one or a DRB III? The DRB can do more in depth diagnostics and check the buses to see what modules are even reporting on...

    Where to purchase?

Viper specialty sells a similar set, though not in CF as far as I know. I bought a set of them a long time ago because they were low profile and almost invisible to the ***** eye while still offering rock protection. Guess it depends if you are really after the CF look or more just the protection.

Going to look for our first Viper (Gen 3) this weekend. Need some advice.

I bought of set of wires from AB and qualitywires.com if I remember correctly. Really nice set with full length covers that are well made, but I think you have to run larger diameter wire holders to route them compared to the stock ones. With low mileage I don't think I'd be super worried as I...

I need help with 2 issues

I mean overhead or floor lights, like what normally comes on inside a car when you open the door so you can see the interior. I don't recall if the earlier cars had them though now that I think about it. My gen 3 has them in the rearview mirror and some bulbs just hanging loose under the dash...

Gen 3 vs 4 blocks and cranks

What exactly do you mean about balancing being different between the cranks? I feel like I've read that before, but never quite understood exactly what it means. In my head balanced is balanced, but I know that a rotating assembly is just that, an assembly, so it's more than just each part...

    Catless Check Engine Light

I think it might depend on which code it threw exactly. I don't think the rear O2 sensor code is as big of a deal as it's typically a measure of catalyst efficiency and doesn't necessarily affect the tune as much. The front O2 is more the one that drives direct feedback to the fuel system to...

    Gear swap gen3

Wow, that seems awfully steep to me, but then again I'm not a professional shop. I feel like personally I could have a diff out, rebuilt, and back in within a day at most, but that's me being familiar with my car.

Gen 3 vs 4 blocks and cranks

Well, as it turns out you can use a later crank in the early gen 3s at least, or that's my plan so far. I talked to Prefix about it and they said they'd have to repin the flywheel ****** to correctly clock the flywheel for the early gen 3 sensor, but the crank itself should fit fine. That's...

I need help with 2 issues

Sounds like the mode door or actuator is busted for issue #1. Don't recall how involved of a process it was to pull the dash on a gen 1 (I pulled my mom's 94 to paint it, but it was a while ago) or if you can even access the actuator when you get it off. On my gen 3 the tip of the door where...

    A/C fan velocity

You might check the doors on the A/C unit. Maybe the mode door isn't moving so the airflow isn't changing? Can you tell any difference in airflow between the different vent positions on the controls? I'd start there and see if it's changing at all. If it is then it sounds like the door is...

    Gen 2 Fluids?

Generally speaking, the letters at the end of part numbers denote revisions and in pretty much any case I've ever seen, later letters are fully compatible with earlier letters. They will often list them as superseding the old part numbers. I wouldn't necessarily say they are better or worse...

    Gear swap gen3

Pulling the rear end out isn't that bad of a job if you're an okay mechanic. The gen 3 isn't too bad to get apart, worst part of it is usually just getting the axles off the stub shafts. There is a tool for it as well that attaches to a slide hammer. There are only something like 4 bolts...

2004 Smog Test. OBD Report continues stating that "Catalyst, Evaporative System, Oxygen Sensor Heater, & Oxygen Sensor has not completed this test".

I'd wonder if the cam might have something to do with it as well. I did a cam on my car and briefly put the rear cats back in to try to tame the noise a bit and they ran so hot I ended up taking them back off because I was scared of melting stuff. I wonder if the full factory system can keep...

mopar race exhaust on a gen 4?

My impression was that the system was made by Borla, but I could be wrong. The "street" system that was sold looked exactly like the Borla aftermarket system they sold (same muffler style), it just had different tips on it. The Borla kit had finished tips with a rolled edge and the Mopar kit...

Going to look for our first Viper (Gen 3) this weekend. Need some advice.

Lol, I have looped my car, just never on the street. Really, even on the track I don't find it that "random" to control. I generally have to do something stupid or push it too far, it's not like one small mistake instantly means a 360, and I'm one of the fastest gen 3s on the track I run. I...

2004 Smog Test. OBD Report continues stating that "Catalyst, Evaporative System, Oxygen Sensor Heater, & Oxygen Sensor has not completed this test".

Wow, that's a stubborn car. I guess you could do a full tune up with new plugs and maybe run a bottle of injector cleaner through it or something as well. I think you've pretty well hit all the nails on the head I could think of at this point. I wonder if the adaptives for the tune has just...

2004 Smog Test. OBD Report continues stating that "Catalyst, Evaporative System, Oxygen Sensor Heater, & Oxygen Sensor has not completed this test".

I think sometimes it takes multiple run cycles to set those checks as well, not just straight mileage. So a single 150 mile trip for instance may not do it as I think one of the evap checks is actually done when the car is off (evap pump runs to pressurize fuel tank and check for vapor leaks I...

mopar race exhaust on a gen 4?

Yeah, I probably would as well. I still can't figure that one out. I don't think I've ever seen an exhaust tip that looks like that before on any Viper I've ever seen, and I've seen plenty with a race exhaust at track events. Could always potentially make your own tips as well. It's...

Looking to buy this 2003 Viper... Comments are welcome!

That price feels awfully high to me for a gen 3, but then again like you said, the market has only been going up on them. Personally, I don't think I'd want to pay more than high 40s for an early gen 3 (coupes certainly worth a little more). Maaaaaybe into the low 50s if I was really pushing...
