Two things have stood out to me more since owning the car:
1) the electronics and features are great and more than I expected
2) the design lets better each time I look at it as you notice all the details. rather it be outside at the angles or inside looking over the hood or the rearview mirror...
I am not sure if you have driven one or not, but I will tell you after purchasing mine, it makes my Gen3 seem like an antique. Seriously, the difference (even though based upon essentially the same frame and suspension) is staggering. I loved the Gen3 design, always appreciated the Gen2 design...
You keep saying this, but then have zero facts to back it up... (referring to "way behind to other HP cars in it price range") Can you share what you are talking about?
Completely agree with the title of this thread. Was waiting for the conv, then saw one, drove one, and now purchased a Gen5. Talk about leaps ahead which is pretty amazing when you consider built on "essentially" the same Gen3/4 frame, suspension and Gen4 motor. Drives, handles and looks...
I read your posts with interest, but then always get left with "what was his point and what was he trying to get across and lastly, why did he even take the time to write it?" Well, this one makes me ask the same questions over again. What is the point? That you can buy a used car down the...
I think you are completely ignoring all data that exists in the market for cars in this price range. It is greater than 70% of this market has an automatic/DCT. Why are you so amazed that a significant part of the population wants a car that is easier to drive on the street and faster on the...
I was looking back and I did not find a place that Bob or any other GenV owner challenged someone if they did not like the looks of the car, unless they have not seen in person. Agree, if you don't like the body style, then no need to drive. I do wonder though why even follow the GenV forum...
Bob, while I agree with you, we do need to be careful. ABS when introduced has the exact same responses from people. Do I want to go back to non-ABS, no way, not ever.
Also, are you still running the oem brake pads? I would think that would be an early change if being serious on the track if concerned on the braking front.
Also, Bob's questions are good. I would have guessed you would have done slightly stiffer springs as the TA has stiffer springs vs...
Please, can we refer to the facts. Where is the FGT you found for less than 120K or less than 100k? Fully loaded GTS's can be found now for 99-109k easy. I would love to get a FGT in that price ranges.
also, you have owned prior gens (like many of us) but how does that translate into...
Take it to 4000 rpm in 2nd gear and then mash it to the floor and see if you feel the same way. first half of throttle is going to feel "softer", second half is going to feel more aggressive.
You consistently say this, but can you share some facts to why you do? Underperformed for this price range? underteched? Please explain how true for the 100-120k price range.
Over priced? sure, anything will sell better if lower priced. put it at 70k, and I am sure will sell much...
Bruce, very good thoughtful post that expressed your thoughts. I actually never said the dampers/spring rates did not improve the car, I just openly questioned how much. Of course, it is just debating items as no way to know unless the other variables were made consistent with the cars on the...
Your statement implies the ACR brakes were only good for a couple of laps and then fall off where these new ones do not. Data?
Note, as stated before, I run both ACR and ACRX brakes. No difference I can tell 25min into a session other than the ACRX brakes generate more heat and maybe a slight...
I see, we are not supposed to debate things on the forums... The issues Randy states as confidence inspiring are greatly affected/improved by Aero and alignment. Do you disagree? Each car was stated to have their OEM alignment and only the TA has the aggressive track alignment. To assume...
Bruce, the point is you have no ability to debate these as you have no idea either. Why do you state them as facts when they are not. The only DATA we have suggests it is minor at best, so why are you suggesting something more? That is my point. Do you have some data the rest of us don't...
I am just attempting to point out the facts as listed below and then the questions on the value of the differences as follows:
Facts:
1) Weight - a little more than srt and a little less than GTS w/track pack (no benefit)
2) brake rotors - do not make the car stop quicker, maybe last longer...
partially a true statement. If the GTS had the track alignment, it would have been much more confidence inspiring. If the GTS had the aero kit, it would have also. If you track, you already know both of those points. I am just saying if it was close already and then you had those two things...
Bob, I know all the differences, just saying the result was not dramatic by the #'s posted before from randy. The use of the word "significant" is not founded in any data I have seen. Was there some recent testing to say otherwise?
remember, the TA is still a street car. It is not an ACR or ACRX although apparently better perf than an ACR. I think a masterful marketing move for the car. At the same time, put the track pack and aero on a GTS or SRT and not sure the performance difference. Love the new brakes and wish...
