The ACR makes significantly more downforce than either aero package. The aero package wings are based on the ACR form but they are twelve inches narrower (cross/car) and do not have the Gurney kick up at the trailing edge. The roadster aero package makes about the same downforce as a base...

The fresh air intake on this car is actually located in the engine box - this is different from most other cars and was done this way for packaging. On other cars it's usually on the other side of the firewall. Because of this air entering the HVAC tends to get more heated and will blow hot...

The old ZR1 (1994) had a valet key... but later dropped it. Some of the concerns we would have in implementing one were likely shared. The Segway has two speed cards as well...

The Z06 is lighter in large part because its motor is smaller. The Z06 aluminum chassis is also a weight benefit but it is only intended for a coupe. The Viper has a chassis built for both a coupe and convertible version. This adds a bit of weight. Also, the new Corvette ZR1 (which is based...

Get that hand brake checked out - dealership. What you are describing isn't normal and would have nothing to do with this being a hand brake that uses a unique caliper.

The ACR owners manual has some good information. We'll try to find a way to get a pdf copy of it posted on this site. The press release is also a good source of info. Follow the link-> Chrysler LLC: News - Archive

Rich, The three production wheels are all within 5 pounds per car (we will have to get back to you with actual weights). The only wheel that is significantly different for 2008 is the ACR Sidewinder wheel which is about 30 pounds lighter per car.

The ACR uses the same pads as the SRT-10. There is a recommend seating or break-in procedure for the pads. This procedure is detailed in the ACR owners manual and the customer would be required to do this. Maybe you could call each customer and volunteer to do it. :D

Here's what I would do. 1 Check the vapor line - it may be damaged after you re-installed the sending unit... although I don't think you need to touch it to change the pump. 2 Sometimes a vapor fault can be set if you have a small leak in the o-ring around the fuel pump module. I'd double...

Bob, The 2008 engine is a highly tuned and highly stressed engine. We left few stones unturned in the development or calibration process. Achieving 600 HP required that many of the parts be stressed to their limits and the pistons are one of the most highly stressed components in the engine. If...

Jason - The recent RRT was necessary to address an issue that came up after we were well into production relative to misfire detection. We started seeing cranks in production that fell outside of the “normal” range we had used for testing and development, specifically the crank position...

    3. I recently dynoed my 2008 Viper on a Mustang dynonometer to get a baseline figure on the stock powertrain before doing some modifications. The average of the three runs was 529 rear wheel hp and 505 rear wheel torque. What correction factor would you recommend to get an estimate of flywheel...

Reply for viperjim on optional rear gear ratios: It is very costly to validate optional gear ratios for production due to fuel economy regulations, pass-by noise testing (another federal regulation), etc., etc. The 3.07 has always been the best choice... so that's why we've tried to have...

Unfortunately, I can not find the wheel weights right now. We can post them next time. However, I can tell you that the 5 spoke, H spoke, and razor wheels are very similar in weight. The only production Vipers wheels that are significantly different in weight are the Sidewinders (approx 30...

Q: Tusc: Speaking strictly of past products which are entering service shortly, was the current '08 ACR developed as an intended counter move to Chevrolet's then-proposed ZR1? A: The ACR was developed to satisfy our passionate track-going customer base. The ACR and the ZR1 are very different...
