A cover that doesn't have a ton of bulk can be an advantage when it's time to wash it. I got tired of going to laundromats just to wash a car cover... it's gotta fit in a home machine for me. Believe me, if your car is clean and detailed, you won't want to put a dirty cover on it, so the...
Well, since the stock Dynamic Suspension shocks are about $800 each with no springs, the KW V2 price seems a little more reasonable. ;) But you are right, quality shocks such as those for off-road by King Racing are half the price of Viper coil-overs, but that's the gotcha, as soon as you say...
Looks good enough to eat! A nice twist on the stock color scheme. It will keep you from getting confused with all the other Snakeskin Green ACRs running around in Nova Scotia. :D
No "Behind the Green Door" jokes, guys, OK?
I would start out with carefully measuring your stock ride height on a level surface, so you have a reference point (assuming the car is still stock). I would also mark these reference points (masking tape) and use a hanging plumb line (weighted string) if you are going from the center of the...
If you ever lower the car, a 19/20 (or 20/20) combo gives a better look as far as filling the wheel wells. As soon as you drop down on stock wheel sizes, the gap to the top of the tire becomes much smaller than the gap at the front and back of the tire, which can look somewhat odd, or at least...
Woo-haa!! I used to do that sort of thing with my old 911 Carrera. Rear tires were a lot cheaper, though! Make sure you have plenty of flat run-off area... :omg:
Nice!!! So I'm curious-- how many Street Serpents are there? Anyone know? Not too many "body kits" came out this hot, a tribute to the designer, for sure.
I found the oil cooler line retaining clips easy to release without a special tool. Once the clip is expanded with a small flat blade, the oil line will pop right out.
It may be time to change the rear end gear oil and add a new bottle of Mopar friction modifier. Rear end fluid should be changed in the first 7500 miles and every 12,500 miles thereafter, according to DC Performance. A sticky limited slip will behave as you described on sharp turns.
It sounds like you might need to check the front toe setting. The Viper gets twitchy with as little as a tenth degree of toe out. The toe out helps the car turn in quickly on the track, but is not great for stability on the highway. Suspension settings are a series of compromises interrupted...
Be careful when comparing old tires to new ones. The only real way to compare would be a brand new set of PS2s against a brand new set of Pilot Super Sports, back-to-back. Not saying the PSS isn't an improved tire-- it's just that changing to a new set of the same tire can also improve...
The moderators don't allow external links to non-supporting vendors, so you might have to point it out creatively. I.E.: Mention where to search and what to search for.
Simple physics would seem to indicate that a shortened throw = more effort. Not talking about the change in side-to-side pre-loading here. Also, the change in shifters means trashing the stock shift knob and shaft-- if keeping the car original in appearance is important to you.
That said...
Where's the Garage Queen Police when we need them??? The nerve of you!! Driving your Viper, in rainy weather!!! :omg:
Someone explain to David that a Viper is not a Corvette, and that wiper blades should never actually pass over the surface of the glass.
Always thought it was a little odd they place those limited edition placards right where your shifting arm rests. Punkers wearing studded leather would make short work of 'em. A good silk-screening shop could re-finish the piece, I'm betting.
Looking at the charts by 345s-bspinnin, you'll notice that the stock 3.08 gears let the Gen III Viper hit 60.2 mph in first gear at redline. This makes a significant difference in the published 0-60 mph time compared to lower ratio gear sets which require a gear change to hit 60. I'm sure...
Coming from old-school muscle cars with V-8s and 4.11 gears, I really missed the snappy/revvy feel when I drove my Gen III originally. It had what we used to call "freeway gears", and despite all the torque, I just felt like it was loping around all the time in normal driving (not track days)...
Snakeskin Green is the "Plum Crazy" of the modern Mopar era. I think collectors will love this car in decades to came, as it represents Viper-ness to the highest degree. Even if they're too shy to drive 'em, they'll love to show off an SSG ACR in their collection. Gotta admit, I'd have to be...
If it causes water droplets to form, then it is just steam. You are very likely just boiling out trapped water from either washing the car or being out in the rain. I wouldn't worry about it unless it becomes a permanent issue, which is unlikely. All of the water overflow tubes (A/C drip line...
There is a "C" clip in the splined part of the axle that slides into the rear end housing. If you're careful, you can use an appropriate pry bar to disengage the half shaft from the diff, but keep in mind the case is aluminum and a little extra finesse is best when doing this; on my '05 it...
