A cool and unique look... but then I always thought plain black wheels need something to make them 'pop' on anything but an ACR. Sometimes it seems like changing wheels is less about personalizing the car than making it look like everyone else's!
Don't bother. They'll just book you for assault and you'll have a lifetime criminal record for defending your property. A buddy of mine just pointed his car in the direction of some clowns in a parking lot who were throwing things at him and got arrested for "assault with a deadly weapon"...
You will hear it over and over that the F430 was a quantum leap forward in reliability and maintenance for Ferrari. If you're leaning to Ferrari (and I love them), it might be worth saving up for the 430 over the 360 Modena if you actually intend to drive it much. Talk to the people who have...
Any shop that recommends to customers high-dollar repairs-- without having any definitive knowledge of what is actually wrong-- is basically stealing. This has become so common among mechanics and home repair contractors that the obvious criminal intent just gets white-washed over. I had a...
To me the whole point of using a daily driver is not so much to protect your fun car-- it's so I don't have to worry about protecting my fun car! Having to "keep an eye on it" isn't something I really want to do anymore. The Viper is a weekend, special occasion car for me and that's about it...
The art part comes from years of experience with gears... I know a guy who's done bevel gear assemblies for 20 years and he can "feel" when the gear mesh is right (while newbies struggle with constant re-shimming and lots of Prussian blue dye-- and still don't get as good, consistent results)...
Often, the adjustment screws for headlights go into a white Nylon captive "nut" with fine pitch threads. It is easy to strip these Nylon pieces especially if there is grit in the screw threads. You will probably have to get in there with a light and inspection mirror to have a chance at seeing...
:2tu:
I'm using a plain glossy carbon fiber frame, but had to trim it a bit on a sander to fit the small vertical space. The plate area on a Gen 3 is hardly any bigger than the plate itself!
Also added some double sided foam tape behind the lower bar to keep it from vibrating against the...
Nice job, Bryan. Brings back the memories of when I did my diff swap 18 months ago. While I did the "bench press" method as well, in the interest of safety, should probably take some extra precautions when handling that large hunk of metal over your chest. Just sayin'! I used some motorcycle...
RE: 20W-50. Check your owner's manual, 20W-50 is fine for moderate to warm climates. There are no oil starvation problems with 20W-50, and oil pressure can actually come up quicker during a start-up than with lighter oils. 0W- oils are recommended for use when the ambient temps drop below...
One of the guys at the 2-hour SRT tech talk mentioned there might be three colors available on the wheels? The red Viper had an anthracite-grey looking wheel, very sharp. They did remind me a lot of the wheels used on a buddy's Grand Sport convertible Vette, hmmm. Sorry, I'm not much help on...
The Gen V and many of the SRT folks joined us for the Holiday Party at the Ritz in Half Moon Bay, CA.
At least five SRT engineers in this photo... that's Dick Winkles, Chief V-10 engineer in the grey jacket at far left.
Somehow a palm tree found its way onto the windshield, one of the...
I hear ya, TowDawg-- the parking brake has no business constantly dragging against the rotors. It's a negative in a lot of ways, including efficiency and throwing more brake dust everywhere. You should never have to replace the parking brake pads for the life of the car (unless you're a...
To me the 'Vert tail looks like they were trying to maintain some family resemblance with other Chrysler vehicles. I still like it OK, but having the $90k sports car look like other Chryslers isn't really doing any favors to the Viper-- I'm sure they were thinking the other way around. Hence...
This can often be a case of the friction discs in your limited-slip differential grabbing and chattering. It may be time to change the rear-end lube and add a bottle of the Mopar friction modifier. There are a number of threads on this issue already. The noise happening in tight turns points...
The "not handling well" comments probably stem from all the crashes where owners have lost control of the car and stacked it, often in the first few weeks or months of ownership. This is not unusual for any high-powered rear-drive car, however. On Wrecked Exotics there are a bevy of smashed...
My old 911 had back anodized aluminum lower window strips on the doors and heat wasn't really a problem, but some anodizing does lose color over years of exposure to sunlight. On a garage parked Viper, probably not an issue.
That's nothin', when it really goes you'll need the windshield wipers on and you'll be ringing out that hood pad. :crazy2:
On a side note, looks like you have the wrong anti-freeze formula in there; coolant is G-05 (orange) from the factory. If green ethylene glycol is mixed with an orange...
