I honestly don't have a answer for you. My Viper tech cautioned me not to use Platinum plugs and it has been the consensus on this board. The only drawback I'm aware of is that platinum plugs should not be cleaned and are more expensive. Perhaps someone els could help us here. (JD)
Heck, considering the mileage and the kind of power Wayne's car makes, I'd say he got his money's worth out of the old flywheel. Besides, "A chain is only as strong as it's weakest link". (JD)
FYI, Dodge recommends: "Do not machine the flywheel face. If flywheel surface is bad the flywheel MUST be replaced". (Manual # 81-270-7150, section 6-5) (JD)
Bob, I think you can find a "VCA Pepole Finder" if you go to the Discussion Forum page and click on "private messages" then select member list! Hope this helps. (JD)
I have replaced two drivers door hinges with the door check mechanism on my 97GTS in 30K miles. One hinge bound up and snapped. The other replacement hinge would not "check" the door when open. Neither damaged the body when it broke. Seems to be a chronic problem with my car. There doesn't seem...
Diamler Chrysler will respond to accusations by Ameicans that they "lied" about the "merger of equals". The program will air on ABC Evening "World News Tonight" on 1/25. Check your local listing for time. This should be interesting!
Welcome to the world of Venom Power! Enjoy the ride.
My 248E dynojet run produced the following figures on my 650R engine with 0 break-in miles. MAX POWER = 557.4 MAX TORQUE = 561.0. Hoping for 15 to 20 rw increase when I dyno again with some miles on motor. (JD)
Tom, although a pain in the butt, remove the rear left wheel and battery panel to check if the battery terminal connections are tight. My positive connector came loose and caused the same symptoms. At the very least, the battery should be checked anyway. Hope this helps. (JD)
You might consider removing the "Sport Shims" form the front suspension. This will change the front camber angle slightly to a more negative camber thus providing better cornering. If you have a Service Manual, check out Suspension section 2-18. Note: "Sport Shims" should be replaced for street...
Re: changing hood to \"locking\" hood???
You might check with John Hennessey. I believe the Hennessey 650R with the full body mods has a fully removable hood. You will have to forgo your hood hinges etc but in return you will save weight. Definitely a two person venture to access the engine. (JD)
You know Big Jim, God must be smiling down on my Viper. During the past three years of doing business with HMS, I have had little or no trouble with John Hennessey or his products. HMS has provided me excellent service. Why should I be the exception? I can't understand why some other people say...
I get approximately 14K out of the rear tires. The fronts last about twice as long. This is normal Hwy use with some in town driving. More aggressive driving can limit the Mlg even more. If Ya wan'a play Ya got'a pay. (JD)
Hay Roy, Try looking at your own track record on getting back to someone. You invited us to talk with you about John Hennessey. I emailed you a two page letter about my experience with Hennessey Motorsports. That was DECEMBER 19th. Guess my experience was to positive. I have yet to hear back...
Re: What\'s your favorite Viper power thrill?
LOL I don't know about fun John, but surly the biggest thrill I ever had was getting sideways unexpectedly when grabbing a gear. The next biggest thrill is watching the tach wind up like a tire gauge when accidently hitting 2nd gear instead of 4th...
Nadine, if you are still locked out, enter the car via the rear hatch and pull the emergency door release located on the door behind the window glass. Once opened, turn on your ignition key and roll down your drivers window (this is incase you need to gain access again). Now try to start the...
Stout 1, If you have a Gen 2 Viper, just switch the lights to park & pull the switch out to activate the fog lights. The main headlights need not be on. No modification required! (JD)
Hi Folks,
I simply removed the logic relay completely from my 97 GTS and substituted a jumper wire with spade connectors. If I face my fuse panel while standing by the drivers side of the car, I see seven relays in a row. From left to my right,I pull the last relay to my right (the logic relay)...
I have a 5 point seat belt. For track use it is a must. For street use, it is a real pain to put on. Five point belts hold you tight where you sit (which they are suppose to do), consequently, when used on the street they make it almost impossible to reach dash switches, mirrors, radio controls...
