correctamundo Luc, but with improved elements like the Piaa H3 85W's the fog lamps sure light up the interlopers on the shoulders. For some of you looking for better eyeballs, I have been using Piaa 9005's super whites in the low beam circuit with fairly good results. Although technically a high...
3:07 refers to the rear end gear ratio. 3:07 is stock for my year. Some folks prefer to alter (for performance)the ratio up/down with a subsequent advantage/penalty in gas mileage.
What a bummer to hear Herb Hibling say in his latest Viper Magazine (Winter 2002 Tech Notes) that "throttle hang" is "normal" after a owner states that his car hangs at about 1500-1700 RPM, and has to use the brakes to bring the car down to a normal idle. There is no 2 stage detent or whatever...
I am getting about 11/13 MPG around town stop & go low speed, 17 MPG on HWY @ 45/55 with passing, and 22/23 MPG on interstate cruising at a steady 70/75 MPH. The tank holds 19 gallons Max. I wouldn't advise running it to low. I would expect a realistic range of about 200 miles in town & stop and...
I changed the stock fog lamp elements to Piia H3 85W Super Whites. BIG improvement over stock and legal too! Been using them for over a year. No problems.
I think the Audi A8 is practically all aluminum. Engine, suspension arms, body spaceframe etc. Very forward thinking for todays manufacturing. The plymouth Prowler is mounted on a full length aluminum frame! You might check out sites like alcoa.com for more information.
George, I can't argue with the expense factor of hydroformed materials being prohibitive, but I have read in the Aluminum Association Journal "there are many forms of joining and working aluminum, some of which include gas-metal-ark (GMA) and gas-tungsten arc (GTA) welding, mechanical fastening...
Funny,in the "old days" we just stuck our hand out the window to tell the temperature. If it was cold and/or wet, it was a no brainer!
Actually, systems such as you have suggested have been tried numerous times over the years. In the '60's Rover Cars LTD introduced a "Ice sensor" system...
Many 96 & some 97 Vipers had defective intake manifold gaskets. Since that time Chrysler has re-designed the gaskets and recommends they be changed. I believe there was a TSB on this subject, but I can't find it. Unless you have a extended warranty, I doubt the will replace them for free.
I forgot to mention, I have checked my 97GTS speedo both with radar and the DRB tool and the sucker is absolutely right on the money when using stock rims and tires. (Nice to know how accurate the speeding ticket is.) Shame on those perennial optimistic Italians! Must be a Fiat thing....
First of all, the important fact is that you passed them! 140, 150,165 MPH really doesn't matter. As for Speedo calibration, the most common reason Iv'e seen for upsetting a reasonably accurate Speedo is the rolling diameter of non stock tires and wheels. Frankly, I would ignore the Speedo...
Dito Larry's tip. Back paint code listed for Viper model year 1997 is a interior color (Black) Chrysler code X9, PPg 9451, BASF 6329, Dupont 44219 or S-W Acme M-S 46006.
Mine deflates over time too. At least on the drivers side. No one ever uses the one on the passenger side. I figure I'm saving that one for pair parts!
Good grief! A little sandpaper and some Spray Crylon (semi gloss if you choose) from your local hardware store should do the trick. No doubt a body shop would do it for you, but it will cost you $60+.
I want to say that I have used Magnecor wires in my 650R for several years now. They have been subjected to high header temps etc, and have never once let me down. Magnecor wires come with a limited warranty on their wires that will "repair or replace FREE OF CHARGE if the product should fail...
I have run with out cats for the last 24000 miles. No problems. Pipes will replace the cats just fine. As Matt mentioned before, it will be louder. You will also experience very rich eye watering exhaust fumes when idling.
Hay Ron, I'm not to sure that a controller that features "more spark & fuel" is going to cure your "rich running". If it is any consolation, mine runs rich too, but then it's a Hennessey car. Better little rich than to lean!
I received my new October issue of Mopar Performance News yesterday and started reading a article entitled "Maximum Viper Venom". Essentially the article dealt with Viper crate motors for non Viper instillation. However, as I read along, I noted at the top of page 19 in the upper right...
My 97GTS doesn't have one. You just have to stick your finger in the filler to check and likewise from the filler use a suction device to drain it. Sounds kinda kinky don't it!
