Well, I never thought my name would be added to the list of people who wrecked their Vipers. This is/was my 4th and I have had countless other sports cars over the years and this is my first (and hopefully last) wreck:
Last night in St. Augustine FL, about 645pm, my wife and I went to a local...
To answer the above question yes, I had 2 pairs of cats on the car (now have one pair).
Sounds like the DC reflash is the way to go. Someone else told me that BG Chrysler also does one but their price is not much less so might as well go with whats been proven.
A dealer wants to sell me one for $350 (optimized for a cam and exhaust, works best without cats, does not require readers, removes the skip shift feature, and is made for 91 octane) - anyone have any experience using it?
I think it is the one recommended if you have the Mopar Street Exhaust...
Anyone have the part# for the 170 degree (or is it a 172 degree?) thermostat, which is required when having a PCM reflash done? And is it a Dodge part?
Re: Red \"Fang\" emblem for steering wheel?
I actually like the entire steering wheel...it would look good in my 2005. But if the airbag (with the Red logo) is $682 I hate to think of what the entire wheel costs!
If they had a warranty! I was told that since there is a "P" in the part# no warranty comes with it. That really sucks since it is obvious that the tips have problems - no way should they look so bad after a few weeks.
Re: Red \"Fang\" emblem for steering wheel?
Part of the airbag? Man, I just picture the impression of that logo on my forehead if it goes off!
I would really like a Red one though...would go with my MGW shift knob.
I take mine to the local quik lube, which has a pit vice lift...plenty of clearance so no worries. I buy my own oil & filter and they change it and lube it for $20 and I get to watch them the entire time - can't beat it and my hands don't get dirty! Actually, a lot of local exotic owners go...
I can vouch for the Roe sill insulation - dropped the cockpit heat quite a bit albeit I removed one pair of cats at the same time. However, you can still burn your legs on the sills - I was wearing shorts the other day and was leaning in to secure the top...ouch! My lower legs are pretty...
My 1st to 2nd shift is fine, just 2nd to 3rd when the car is warmed up. Anyone have any experience using Royal Purple tranny fluid to help the shifitng problems?
I've heard others mention it as well although I could not find out if there is something that can be done to correct it or at least make it easier to shift from 2nd to 3rd when warmed up...ideas? Maybe a different tranny fluid?
The only mods I have done are the Mopar Street Exhaust and K&N Intake. I know they are only exhaust tips but I would not think they'd look like crap after a couple weeks!
I don't think I ever saw a "Members Only Forum" and I have been a member and here on the web site since 1997.
My membership# is 07399 and any help hooking me up with access would be greatly appreciated!
Bob Z.
Those look like the ones. I polished mine when they were first put on but like I said, after a few weeks they look like crap. And from what I was told by the selling Dodge dealer, they are not covered under warranty.
