This was a 1999 TNT heads/cam/headers/exhaust and a 150 shot from a NX200 nitrous all done no later than 1999.
What is the most likely reason to remove the cover?
I'll add my tidbit of info: Where to put the X or H pipe: Muffler should be at the very end of the system. Then spray paint or thermal paint on the pipes ahead of the mufflers. Drive the car, hard if you can, and you will find a hot spot where the paint is burned off - that is where you put...
Yep, the welds on the resonators are not up to "manufactured kit" quality.
Yep, I hadn't heard "Billy Boat" for decades and never with regard to Vipers (but I was Viper oblivious until 2000 - yes, I read everything in the magazines since 92 and went to see one at a dealership, but when in 2000...
The mandrel bends are perfect so I'm thinking it was a complete system but Wayne decided to mod the pipes. Those ends are evidence he was thinking about "end mods."
I was thinking it's not homemade, previous owner spent $40k on mods/upgrades, however it's possible he may have had the tips modded which brings into question the resonators. Also, some of the parts that came with the car included some fancy trick exhaust tips that may or may not be Viper parts...
It never occurred to me to check to see if I had his email. I did, but it's defunct - it was kingcoin... Never thought to ask him if he was living in FL like his area code.
Thanks, talked to him. He remembered me. We talked about the Silver State and the VOI in Nashville when I ran into him. He's still into the cars. Said it's OK to say, "This was Wayne Skiles' Bad Viper" when I sell 'his' car. (Where I come from, something becomes "yours" only after you sell...
I checked my address book and had his shop and home numbers - shop is bad number and home was re-used and not his.
The shop number on the internet is the one I had in my book (909) 383-9000
He's on LinkedIn with little activity https://www.linkedin.com/in/wayne-skiles-1497421b/
Now I'm trying...
Want to install. I think it will clear Hennessey but would be nice to know for sure AND how (???) do you fish the nut plate into the frame? (Does it fit thru that not-so-large round hole on the bottom?) Tried calling IPSCO today, no answer in afternoon, then busy for about an hour at the end...
Hey Steve, thanks for replying. Yes, still have it (pic of it in NV mountains is my avatar) - in fact I went thru all his VCA.org posts extracting details about the car - learned Unitrax put the 3.45's in it which I didn't know - what I really would like to know were the VEC1 settings he...
UPDATE: DORMAN JUNK and ROCKAUTO RETURN SYSTEM *****: Dorman 42009 defectives from Rock Auto: The threaded axis is not even close to the axis of the part. When you drill it out to 1/2", the O2 sensor end touches the side of the hole since the threads are cockeyed. Screwed a bad one on some...
Good to see in person, but if you have a problem on the drive back, better have contingencies in effect.
I drove my 90k 96 GTS from Carson City to Death Valley to Pittsburgh sleeping in car. The car made it but it took a month for me to recover (!) I had no contingencies, and after many...
Depends on what your time is worth.
Do you have a price in mind as is? If you do, put it on eBay and see what happens. You might find someone who wants a Viper who can do their own work, that doesn't have enough money to buy a proper one. It used to be on eBay there was no obligation to sell...
Some years ago, friend in FL who deals in Vipers and exotics and knows the car said BaT would be best place to sell it. However my cursory research was troublesome since you basically have to "audition" for them to list and they may even set reserve. And of course, times may have changed. And...
I have no explanation why others have a weak snap or no snap or have their dipstick blow out. Mine is so right, when snapping to close or open, the amount of force required is so great I wonder if something will break each time I do it. I get into the details in post #14
It might be the...
It's a 1999 TNT heads, cam, headers, exhaust with other upgrades. Car has 90k on it. Could daily drive just fine as it is. The car is not perfect. It's modded. It's also a work in progress. Wondering how to approach BaT.
RE: NAMES:
I had a 1963 Super Red R2 factory supercharged Studebaker Super Lark that was a notorious street racer in the mid-70's. It was known as "The Red Car."
The car in my avatar is "Bad Viper" which is the name of the previous owner's ID on the Viper forums. I believe he also had a...
I bot a new one in 2000 from a dealer and never drove it. I'm guessing if you show up in a Lambo or something crazy expensive, they'd let you drive it - but that was back in 2000.
Then I bot a used modded GTS in 2001 and the owner took me for a drive. I don't know if he would have let me...
