I guess the bottom line is that for the necessary "crowbar" that I want, it translates into the length of stroke of the shift knob.
I don't know where the OE shifter fulcrum is, but assuming you could move it both up and down, that would allow this stroke to be achieved at different shifter...
Yeah, it was the VEC1 allright! When I suspected bad piercing connectors (installed around 1998), I decided to solder all the connectors at the ECU.
The MAP signal wire which is cut and the VEC1 is "inserted," one of the crimp connectors FELL OFF THE WIRE!
Over half the strands of the wire...
Did it. Made a 2" threaded sleeve and a 1.5" threaded rod. The MGW is now 2" taller. Just drove it and LOVE it!
Looks like I can't upload any more pics. Not clear what the rules are. Too bad, external hosting usually results in eventual loss. Bad for informative threads.
I was a notorious and very successfully sleeper (supercharged Studebaker Super Lark) back in the 70's. Since nothing will ever top that (getting beat by a Studebaker???? the Horror... the Horror...) I would never ever, ever consider street racing someone with my Viper (can't win even if you...
I was just checking some 19 sizes. First tire dealers have no Viper listings for 2013 and above. But found some 2014 specs: 295/30r18 and 355/30r19
I'm running 2000 sizes: 275/35r18 and 335/30r18
REARS:
There are 345/30r19 and 355/30r19 which are 1.24 and 1.48" greater in diameter...
I've wrestled with tire pressure and alignment for decades with regard to wear - nothing worse that burning the centers or insides and then not knowing how far off you are and how far you need to go to achieve the correct setting. You can do alignments, but there is no analytical method to...
96 GTS heads, cam, headers, full exhaust.
STFT's jump around -5% both banks (-2 to -9% spikes caught visually)
Had to bump the VEC1 Hi to get good <12:1 A/F and bump the Lo to get rid of idle hang.
I suspect the ECU was not tuned due to these codes.
QUESTION: Anyone see any issues here that...
Did the test and from what I can gather, you have to visually average the fluctuating rpms as you select the injector to kill/test.
I had some cylinders spike below 900 with an average in "low 900's" while other injectors spiked above 1000 with an average in the "mid to high" 900's.
Obviously...
UPDATE: DRBIII IAC WIGGLE TEST:
Did this and the engine would jump from 1300 to 1900 every time the IAC was ramped open. Closing was fairly smooth. (No way to plot this information on DRB which really defeats the whole purpose of the test: inspection of the curve.)
I suspect this could be...
UPDATE: 9/10:
Took to Mt. Rose 8900' 30*F and got a minor 1400 rpm idle hangafter shutting off at summit, then starting after about a 10 min "heatsoak."
The hang occurred right after the cold start enrichment was over.
One VEC1 click rich caused the hang to drop. (One click back cause the...
Can't recommend anything but I can say that I bot the most expensive, soft white bath towells they had at some high end department store and they were a complete disasterthey covered the car with white lint! (something I have NEVER seen happen with a cotton towel over the 45 years I've been...
I think this was a common trick much talked about around 2000 but couldn't find any search hits to confirm. (Think I learned about it at a Viper Days.)
The purpose is that when the fan comes on, you ALWAYS get HI fan.
Could someone confirm this?

This is pathetic, I even found a pic of one and said, "That is easy" but I looked and looked and probed all over the place with my hands.
I didn't realize the port is basically even with the bottom of the trim panel - I thought it was a few inches forward of where it actually is.
So I got a...
UPDATE: 9/6: With soldered VEC1, engine has been very stable and more HP - can now churn the tires in 1st.
No incidents until just now - I took car to 6200 ' AND a little chilly 55*F (maybe even a few more degrees cooler), and the idle hanged around 1300-1500 rpm.
Knowing that the VEC1 Low...
Actually, its not really about the spare - it's about where to put the flat tire w/wheel!
I was thinking it may be possible to put an angled ("negative" camber from aft view) bottle bottom at the quarter panel and top at the hatch opening.
I'm really only thinking about this because the car...
My 96 GTS (heads, cam, exhaust) had a bottle bolted to the spare tire cover (!) - I took that out as soon as I saw that.
Seems everyone has one or two bottles inclined over the spare tire.
So the only real option would be some kind of short, fat bottle to tuck by the fenders - perhaps two of...
The original concept of the Viper was to be the reincarnation of the Beast AC Cobra.
Beast.
Let me say that again...
Beast.
The Viper should always be 50% more HP than the Corvette maintaining the margin the 427 Cobra had over the Corvette back in the 60's.
If the Corvette is 600hp, the...
UPDATE: 9/3/2015:
VEC1 MAP intercept wiring was FUBAR!
Installation consists of cutting the MAP wire at the ECU harness, crimp blade terminals onto the ends, and then connect with terminals from the VEC1.
The crimp terminal coming off the ridiculously short cut they decided to make at...
Previous owner installed the MGW parts: short arm shifter, console cover w/cup holder, and gas cap cover. and the valve stem caps.
While a short shifter arm is cool, on a T56 I need more "crow bar" to bull past the totallyl inadequte single cone synchros.
What are my options? I was...
I'm about to start diagnosing this today and my #1 suspect is a leaking injector O-ring.The first thing I'm going to do is inspect the spark plugs and see if there is evidence of a rich injector. I shut the engine down while presenting the 3000 rpm idle.
Once I do that, I'm going to listen to...
