like everyone else... probably a great car especially for the price... but stupid idea on the camaro(ish) taillights...
I loved my 08 Z06... C7 should be awesome bang for buck!
Re: 08 ACR Viper still King of *normal* production cars for Lightning Lap in Car & Dr
wow... that is interesting..... i don't know how the ACR was setup.... hopefully factory alignment with suspension set on "track" settings and that was it..... amazing that Ferrari would use cheater test...
got my 09 ACR new sept 2011...i paid a local race shop about a year ago to check settings and align.... it seemed pogo'ie (not sure how to spell) since then... so finaly tonight i jacked it up and all of the top adjusters were on about the softest they get.... WTF! I put the all at 6 clicks...
Re: 08 ACR Viper still King of *normal* production cars for Lightning Lap in Car & Dr
in fairness to the F458..it was on Super Sports (i think) so with some better tires it should get a better lap time than what they got.... but Viper still rocks! :)
i somehow have almost 7k on my sport cups and they are only about 2/3 worn out.... but with no electronics to save me from destroying the car into walls and curbs I have not acted too stoopid with it. I only made it 5k miles on my 08 Z06 but it would keep me in check with stability, etc...
Re: 08 ACR Viper still King of *normal* production cars for Lightning Lap in Car & Dr
^ did they do a Lightning lap with a '10 ACR? are you thinking of the nurbergring?
http://www.caranddriver.com/features/the-lightning-lap-2008
the Mosler is like $330k... holy ****.... :D
Lightning Lap is in the Feb 2013 Car and Driver.. despite all the talk of the 2013 Viper vs ZR1, the lightning lap is in there too..........
The 2008 ACR is still the 2nd fastest overall car, losing only to a Mosler MT900S (i personally have no idea where you buy one of those).
Track...
ACR Viper is still the king (besides that goofy Mosler) of the Lightning Lap. I think the 2012 ZR1 (which i assume was on similar tires to the ACR..???) was about 2 seconds slower.
I didn't get mine in the mail yet. :( I hate when they make it to the stores before my mailman finishes...
i had a 2008 Z06 that i bought new and beat the piss out of... i saw 193 on the speedo, took it drag racing, burned through the back tires and had no issues at all. I sold mine with about 8k miles on it due to divorce but zero problems...... it's handling was not spectacular on the run flats...
i don't think mine (100% stock 2009 ACR) will accelerate once in 5th gear at 170ish.... whatever the top of 4th gear is seems to be top speed.....
at the Silver State don't you need to put a lot of safety stuff in the car once you get to the faster classes? I would think any car over...
is that only a 2 door? such a huge truck. woulda expected more cab room. what powertrain? i assume it is a big ass diesel... :)
ps... hopefully you can drive at the track better than that park job. ;)
the 458's are running in the 10's without awd.......i assume based on weight distribution...... so are the new maclaren's...... you would hope the viper can hook up....
according to the tirerack website, my 2009 ACR has Pilot Sport Cup tires.
according to the website that tracks lap times around the nurbergring it mentions that the corvettes both had with optional super-slick track DOT competition tires (Michelin Pilot Sport Cup Zero Pressure
The 2010 ACR...
i have almost 6k miles on mine and they still have tread. I don't do many burnouts but don't drive like a granny either... just curious on the tread wear average for these. i assumed they would be long gone by now....??
thanks
(i tried to search but didn't have much luck).
a buddy of mine is on crew for one of the mustangs in the Koni / Continential Tire series.....~ $30k a weekend if you don't wreck the car... that is insane and that is *just* a new mustang... i cannot imagine what it would cost for a seat in a race prepped viper.?? Good luck!
I am sure if...
i am leaving for weekend or i would check it out... i work about 10 miles from the Harrisburg Airport..
what color? there are not many vipers around this part of the world. :D
