FYI, Dodge Dealers (some or all) have SMOKING DEALS on oil and filter packages (Pennzoil Ultra synthetic or whatever is the top level PZ synthetic oil). I just took my 875mi. car in today and was about to pay the negotiated $105 for oil and filter when my Service Advisor offered the package. I...
I added Advanced Aero and Exterior Carbon Fiber Pkg. to my 2014 GTS. Retail was $9,900 or so, and I paid the dealer $8,100 installed. This was negotiated at the time of my purchase in July 2014.
I was told by the SRT Coupon hotline today that the coupon only applies to new 13, 14 and 15 Vipers. I asked for her to have her supervisor check this and confirm. If true, the coupons are truly next to worthless for recent purchasers. I purchased a 2014 GTS in July and certainly do not want a...
Re: Holy crap...Dodge just hit the panic button on the Viper.
just because Dodge Is offering $15000 cash to dealers does not necessarily mean that this money will be the added on top of any existing deals does it?
not really a track car unless it has a roll cage, fire suppression system and other track specific items. these are street cars that can be used on the track under certain circumstances
I suspect the GTR nismo will be a very special model as well-- light and carbon fiber, R compound tires and about $170,000 as tested (base price plus options). nevertheless very impressive for a heavy 6 cylinder car
Generally, I suspect that the whiners have not aggressively driven a Gen V and are just angry that the car costs more than $100k. Such is life. The Viper is not, and never has been, a bargain-basement sportscar. The Gen IV ACR was what, $115k or so?
There are unbelievable deals out there...
I believe the GTS gen5 Viper that randy tested was the one with mismatched tires a bad alignment in the 2013 brakes which were not the same as the 2014 GTS brakes and rotors unless they were the $3150 Track Pack brakes. That car--as provided-- was still only about a half a secondoff the TA time...
The title of this thread is perplexing. 3500 lbs for the C7Z is really not heavy and lighter than I was expecting. It will be an excellent car and a good evolution of the C6ZR1 and will be an awesome performer at a great price. The Gen V was the choice for me but I applaud GM for the C7Z.
On the track, after you get to a certain level, things like the driver, downforce, tires, etc. make a huge difference--not just the OEM aspects of the car. Also, I have seen plenty of very fast GTRs on the roadcourses. Even 9114s cars have been very fast. For a real comparison, you really need...
On the issue of Gen V performance peers, did anyone note the performance specs of the new Lambrogini Hurican in C & D? It looks like they got a ringer car. For a 602hp/413trq, 3423lbs car (AWD and DCT), they got insande #s: 0-60: 2.5; ADN 1/4MI.: 10.50 @135 mph--before the car broke a coolant...
Your Gen V test drive experience does not correspond with my Gen IV and now Gen V ownership experience. The Shift Linkage and Drivetrain in the Gen V is much smoother than Gen IV. Granted, it is not a DCT, but that topic has been covered.
The Viper has potentially much higher limits than the Porsches on the track and otherwise (except a draw with a 991 GT2, and excluding the 918 hypercar). The Viper also does not look nearly as pedestrian as the Porsche. I voted with my wallet and purchased a gen v gts and it is an awesome car...
The 640 hp (or 645 hp due to re-measurement!) and 600hp of the Gen V feels fast so far at 320 miles. I also appreciate the power delivery of the N/A motor. My BMW 550i M-Sport has a 4.4L twin-turbo, dohc, 4-valve motor with Dinan tuning (502hp/580trq), and while it is great for a luxury coupe...
While there may be exceptions from time to time (usually explained upon closer examination), I did not and am not seeing "fire sale" prices on GTS, TA or other models. Case in Point: I was dealing with 4 dealers on a 2014 GTS in the color combo I desired, and 3 of them are still holding the line...
Do you guys (and gals) was the Rag Co. towels before using them? They just arrived and look good--although the waffle pattern towels look a bit strange.
Thanks for your thoughts.
A SRT has engineer has apparently stated that the Gen IV ACR is still faster around the Ring than the TA due to 1000lbs of df vs. 300lbs for the TA.
As noted above, they are street cars, so we are just speaking about slightly different flavors/personalities of the cars depending on model and...
I stand corrected on the dash. Does it have Laguna Leather like the upgraded leather cars?
FWIW, I very much respect the TA and am thrilled that it exists as a proud member of the Viper family. Certain posts just inflate the realistic differences with the TA and other models. Hopefully, we...
OK, you asked for it.
The TA has Nylon seats, lack of leather, harsh ride and stickers instead of emblems. All of these things make the car less desireable on the street--90%+ of all Viper use.
The majority of the "special" TA items can easily be added to the GTS IF required. For example...
Let's just agree to disagree on the TA vs. GTS. Trust me, it will not go well for the TA and the debate will further divide the pack and it has been debated before. The various iterations of the Gen V all share the important bits, so let's concentrate on that.
Some of the extraordinary sales discounts allegedly occurring distort the reality of what is usually happening in most cases. My purchase was about 10 days ago and no dealer was offering the car at 20% off, etc. I received a good price like many others, but not a fire sale price. Generally...
