I'm not familiar with the top, but if it's new, wouldn't there be come "settling" due to compression of the weatherstripping over time, i.e, wouldn't it sit lower (lessoning the gap) in a couple of months?

They will squeal less over time. On my '01, it was annoying for the first 3-4,000 miles, but it became less noticeable with miles. Or maybe I just became deal in the break squeal decibel range. ;)
