Down in the Cincinnati/Dayton area we have Will Dlesk. Him and I do a lot of work together and held the first Viper Tech day back in May at my garage to try and help all of the local viper owners out with their issues.
Mine does this as well on a 2000. It's rare but I have seen it happen. Just like you said, I pull up and it's basically lose. I put it back down and this time when I pull up on it, it's snug and working normally.
Interesting how that link you posted has some of the parts in a very unOEM gloss finish and other pictures are of the actual OEM pieces. I have it in my Gen V ACR Extreme and they are far from glossy. More of a matte finish.
Thank you Blackwidow for sharing. Nice to see the 2016/17 VINed ACR number at 483. I wonder how many were Extremes. I imagine most of them. Probably more rare to have a non Extreme ACR!
Thanks for sharing that information. I’ve wondered that as well.
The question remaining would be, do those numbers include only true VIN ACRs or do they include the GTC Vipers with ACR options? I’ve always wondered how many VINed ACRs there are since I feel like I see more GTC with ACR options.
I have these on all of my cars, including my Gen 2 and 5 and Ram SRT10, and they work great. No issues or weirdness for years and years. They live on them when I'm not driving them...
I have been watching the ACRE market for the last couple of months telling myself when they got near $200k I'd buy one. I saw the $229K with 16k miles in Texas, maybe that's the one you were talking about. I passed on it because it's not a true ACR but a GTC with all the ACR options from the...
Sounds like you dodged a bullet. I wouldn't trust a dealership with a car that most of the dealership techs have never seen.
I'm located in Springboro and Will Dlesk helps me maintain my Viper. He also runs the local Viper chapter I believe.
I am located in Springboro and I haven't come across anything yet that Will Dlesk couldn't help me with. You'll find him on Facebook and he runs the local Viper group I believe.
All used car values are going up. As much as I do think the Viper will continue to climb once this printing of money ends. Print more money, everything "goes up in value" because it takes more money to buy anything.
If you want to get rid of the 02 CE code, I put two of these on each rear o2 sensor when I removed my cats and have never seen a code after many thousand miles. These remove it out of the way. Mine is a 2000 ACR as well...
That looks very similar to the steel grey they did in 2000. Although it does have more of a blue tint to it. Both are sexy and rare colors but I prefer the steel grey personally
...so racing is bad for the environment? :bigok:
I will be doing a tune once I feel like straight pipes is what I want. I will admit I've gone back and forth on putting a "cat back" exhaust on to tone it down just a hair but I don't miss the heat on the sills and I'm sure my paint is happier too.
Happy to update.
No CEL. I've driven the Viper about 800-900 miles since the cat removal and the non-foulers install. I drove the Viper about 8 hours/600 miles in a day which was 95% on the highway as well as some very spirited driving for the other 200-300 miles. So it's seen both steady...
I know it's a little further than south Jersey but if I needed work I would take mine to Chuck Tator. He's been very helpful over the phone and is a very nice guy.

I'd be curious about hearing solutions as well.
My 2000 ACR hood will sometimes stay up on the first time but typically I have to "pump" it down and up a little a few times to get it to stay. Not sure why or how that works but it does. Rarely does it not work but there have been times. Would...
"updated life insurance" is great in your quote haha
All done and what I did worked great without any CEL. I bought 2 packages of these non-foulers and opened them up on the inside a little to get the sensor in them. It removed it out of the flow enough and worked perfect. Drove it about 9...
