Re: Thanks for the small time we spent together-
I did not know him personally, only through his posts which I enjoyed reading. It's sad to see someone go in the prime of his life. Condolences to his family and friends.
Congrats on the new record  So close, yet so far away :) Did Doug drive it at Moroso? You should have let us locals know it was there, I would have liked to see it go.
Congrats JD have fun and be safe. Cold weather is just around the corner, combine that with some more practice from Tony and it'll be knocking on 9's door
How much can a stock gen I handle? As long as you keep the a/f in check a 200 shot will be fine. Remember a 200 shot will net you around 150rwhp Your engine is very strong so your not going to hurt it unless you go too lean.
The fastest Vipers are all running Nitrous. Which one is "Better" is relative to what you want to do with the car. Most Vipers run 150-200 shot but I think BTR has a 250-300 shot kit available also. Do a search there is a ton of stuff on this website regarding nitrous.
Congrats to Lee! Driving his own viper into the 9's is much more impressive to me, than having a "hired gun" doing it.
Good luck in Columbus Tom, lay some smack on those Vetts for us
Re: Can\'t go anywhere without the FUZZ in pursuit
When was the last time you seen, heard, etc. any cop prevent any crime? Shoplifting? Car break in? Home invasion? Rape? Murder? The only time I see them is when they are writing up a report after the fact. Thanks Clinton for the 100,000 useless...
Re: Roe S/C & Stage III Heads & Cam combo! Help!
Have you talked to Larry yet? Where are you getting the heads? I'm going to sending my car to Larry shortly to get a cam, 8 lb pulley, new Walbro fuel pump, port matching, dyno tuning, etc. I'm keeping the BTR heads, which were shaved just enough...
Tom, I'll be there around noon, looking forward to seeing you again, along with the west coast gang. I'm bringing the video camera so I expect some 9's LOL No racing for me, the Viper is in West Palm.
Mike
Are you getting those ET's with a 6 speed? If so those are the best times I've ever seen given the MPH. How are you shifting? I'm guessing powershifting?
As to your question, I'm not sure of the answer but I believe the Viper trans has a shorter tail, so the output shaft may be different. There...
I've used the VEC1 and nitrous. The problem comes if you tune the VEC1 for non-nitrous use, then forget to change it back for nitrous use before spraying. I got some pinning a couple of times by forgetting to change it before using nitrous. I think it was due to too much timing advance, not...
FYI I couldn't get Kumhos to hook any better than stock pilots at the track, they work great on the street but at the track I haven't have much luck. Best I've managed was 1.90's 60' Also throughout the night the times would get worse because when you first get to the track the tires are hot...
I think NX (wet) is the only option w/o propane. NOS has a dry kit (made for Gen I cars) but it tends to lean out on Gen II cars plus it's a small shot (100HP) You probably should stay around 150 shot with cast pistons.
How do I like the Roe Supercharger?? I've had some problems, so I can't say it's excellent, but over all it's a good kit. With the latest updates it's much better than before.
The 1.5's 60' were with ET streets and skinnies. I could never get better than 1.9's with stock tires.
The quietest is Corsa. Keep the cats if you don't want it too loud. I have yet to see any cat back make more HP than another. Most seem +-5 rwhp from stock but this is within a dynos normal variation, so it's hard to say. BTW Corsa +18rwhp is BS IMHO but I still like it the best
Ditto what HP said
There is a wire on the end of the cig outlet that comes unscrewed (mine fell off twice due to plugging a radar detector in and out) There are little tabs that holds the panel in place. Pops on and off in a minute.
PSI does not equal HP. I've been told by Supra guys that they can take the stock twins and run 16 psi and get 450 rwhp yet bolt on a single larger turbo run 16 psi and get 600 rwhp (just round numbers). Same psi but much more HP it's the flow of the turbo, in this case a supercharger, that makes...
Good advice above. I would also add to start small (tubes filters, exhaust) before going with the other major modifications.
Do a search of the vendors before ordering, some are better than others. Recommendations -> Roe Racing, BTR Performance, Parts Rack, these are just some I've ordered...
Re: 3 Macedo/ Roe Superchargers and Bradenton Thrusday (6-12) will be hot!
I've also heard through the grape vine that they are becoming more strict on the rules. BTW what are the rules for IHRA track I know NHRA but are they basically the same?
Wish I could join you guys. In a couple of...
That's far too conservative. On a good track you'll be able to to 100% nitrous at 3,000 RPM's on stock sport tires with no wheel spin. The biggest problem is the 1-2 shift and the wheel spin caused by that. But once in 2nd your not going to spin the tires with a 150 shot. On the street you may...
Your car certainly would NOT brake the Kumhos loose. They hold my 600+ rwhp without a squeak in 1st. These Kumhos are not your typical performance tire they have a tread wear of 50 and are a comp tire not a true street radial it's made for road racing - autox.
I'm sure your going to get many of...
Thanks for the explanation Doug.
J Smith I have not yet ran it at the track but plan going soon, possibly next week. I'm expecting similar times to what I did with nitrous.
BTW that is not my graph it's one of Sean's. I still have the 5 lb pulley but will be upgrading as soon as Sean releases...
