Well funny in a sad way. Ambients cooled, my Kumho V700s got a bit hard, I wheel hopped the car hard a couple of times, and the driver's side rear Aldan started leaking again. Today I took them off and shipped back to Aldan (who has great customer service and rebuilds them whenever they blow...
Since I am an outlaw I cannot access the link Tom posted, but I say weak rear brakes are a safety issue - just like proportioning valves. The fronts billowing tire smoke is safer than the rears locking up and sending you into loop-de-loops. But Tom's caliper mods fixes the issue (don't forget to...
Be careful. I found the headliner one I ordered to fit pretty well (I won't mention shorting the dome light wires and frying the switch so I had to buy a new harness - aargh!) but the console one was not even close. They apparently changed shape at some time.
Looks like I got a stone hit on my driver's side hood vent making two small chip-scratches on one off the strakes. What do you think the chances are I could buy one with factory silver paint from a wrecked car and have it match? There is no repainting in that area of my car so it is factory...
Follow-up post: finally did some hard driving. Admittedly ambients are up a bit (mid-to-high 70F today) but only 5-10 degress over last week, but so far the R888s are rocking. 3.55 gears, close to 600 ft lbs of torque at the crank and no wheelspin in a straight line. They are quieter and are not...
Glad you are a fan - but beware - 9 out of 10 people REALLY hate them. I get slammed for the wheel stickers on non-Viper boards more than anything else.
My calculations say about $100 per corner more than getting Kumhos from Jon at Partrack, having them shipped here and getting them installed. Plus this was a lot faster and easier.
The Kumhos V700 has a tread wear rating of 50 whereas the Toyo R888 has a tread wear rating of 100. Perhaps having a denser contact patch (more like a drag radial on the Toyos) will make them about even in grip.
It is hard with the noisy exhaust, but they seem quieter than the Kumhos (the MX on the front has a tread pattern very similar to the V700). It makes sense that the less tread edges you have on a tire the quieter it will be. I would imagine slicks or maybe a Hoosier R6 would be as quiet as you...
beat you by a whole minute!!! :rolaugh:

Has a flat gold paint job (with black stripes) and pimp wheels. Goes for (drum roll please) $250k
$$$ went to Petty's Victory Junction
P.S. Linda Vaughn on stage BTW!
My Kumho V700 rears have some tread left but they went hard on me and are not doing a great job now that the temperatures are cool, plus I learned my lesson that running "regular" compound Kumho Ectsa MXs on the front with stickies out back is not great (even with Tom's rear calipers the fronts...
Follow up post: after seeing my post DC Perofrmance software dyno plots DC Performance thinks they have done the best they could and sending the computer back in hopes of squeezing out some more power would only lead to the danger of spark knock. Car runs a lot smoother now, is not idle hanging...
Oh those are friggen SWEET!
eBay Motors: Dodge Viper BBS 1 Piece Forged Magnesium Wheels (item 120351279793 end time Jan-15-09 13:40:53 PST)
15.9 lbs front and 17.4 lbs rear = awesome even if the rears are only 12"
FANTASTIC NEWS! Went out to diagnose the windshield issue, proped them both up, turned them on full blast then turned them off and they fixed themselves. Turning them on to intermittent then off multiple times did not do it, but turning them on all the way did the trick. I'll take that as my...
