Vipermed airbox and ice =scary power

The Ramchargers used to use this trick with the Hemi engines and pack the intake with ice to allow for a colder air charge into the intake manifold. Cold air is more dense than warm air, thus more intake air is crammed into each cylinder, results = additional horsepower and torque. Cool cans...

Does the back window work as a wind buffer?

You can just swing the rear window down on the rear shelf in front of the window, by just pulling down on the spring loaded latches and using the leather "hinges" at each snap to hinge the window down. That way, the window stays up there behind you, you don't need to put it in its baggie, and...

Got a chance to visit PVO yesterday, what a place!

If you ever get an invitation to visit PVO, don't miss the opportunity, however, do not bring a camera! No Pictures allowed, but it is an awesome experience just to be there in person. The two hours we were there went by so fast. Wouldn't you just love to work there? They has some places...

Got a chance to visit PVO yesterday, what a place!

My wife and I had a chance to go on a very special tour yesterday, we got to see the inner workings of PVO first hand, and what a place it is! If you did not know exactly where it is, you would probably drive right by it. It is not far from Chrylser headquarters in Auburn Hills, MI, but...

Great gestures by the Vette Guys

My wife and I were out cruisin in the Viper this past Sunday, and I forgot about a huge one day Vette show (over 1200 Vettes show up for this show every year) which took place last Sunday, right here in little old Hastings. There were about 10 Vettes lined up at the light to make a left turn...

    OIL at wal-mart

It's the 5 qt containers of 10 w 30 Mobil 1 for 18.88 and I just got two of them for the spring oil change at my local friendly Chrysler dealer. Also use the 5 w 30 for the PT Cruiser, it's a good deal. Our local Wal-Mart doesn't always have it, so grab it while you can!

    True cost of ownership

OK, How did you guys manage to get such long warrantees on your Vipers? Mine runs out at the end of this month for the '94 and it was a 7 year Chrysler full warrantee. It started in '96 cause the car sat in the showroom until '96 and was not sold until then. How can I get one for a longer...

Wow, do new fron tires make a difference!

They went to the '96 settings, and yes, that may have had some effect too, as the alignment was out, and the tires were wearing badly on the inside edges. The BFG GForce KDSW now has the highest wear rating for Z Rated tires at 400. That is another reason I went for them. I do not plan on...

Wow, do new fron tires make a difference!

I have OEM Michelin Pilot Sports on the back, and correct size BFG's on the front. I don't think that the BFG's come in the factory size for the rear, and remember, BFG is owned by Michelin. I remember speaking to a Michelin tire rep a couple of years ago on the phone, and he did not seem to...

Wow, do new fron tires make a difference!

I just got new Z-rated BFG G-Force KDWS tires on the front of the '94, and I cannot believe the difference they make! I had the old original 17 inch XGTZ Michelins on the front, and I guess the rubber finally got too old to really be any good. The car does not follow the grooves in the road at...

Insurance for high performance driving events

The main reason I posted this information was to let everyone know that you really need to check with your insurance carrier, because you might just be really surprised to find out that you are not covered for any track events at all! Forewarned is forearmed, so just do a bit of checking. But...

Insurance for high performance driving events

I just put my insurance back on for Saturday on the '94 Viper, and asked them if I am covered if I go to a high performance driving school, not a timed event or anything, and NO! I am not covered for such an event whatsoever! Yikes! Does anyone know if there is any insurance you can get for...

    Rear End Clunk

Tomcat, If you have a transferrable warranty, then all you did with the older ones was to pay for the transfer fee, and now it was like you were the original owner. For the newer warranties, ther is no fee if I remember. But the entire car is covered, including the drive train. Nothing...

    Rear End Clunk

It's probably the bolts for the rear end and the ladder bar. There was a recall notice for this on the Gen 1 cars. Mine keeps getting out of spec every once in a while, I go back to the daeler, he re-torques the bolts, and ta da, the klunk goes away.

    WHO GETS THE BEST MPG?

I have gotten over 26 mpg with the '94 when running a 3 hour drive up to the north end of the lower peninsula of Michigan, at about 65 mph. The tach stays at about 1200 rpm in 6th gear for that kind of mileage, and it's [******] boring, but the car will do very well at those rpms in 6th gear...

How do I pull out the passenger seat on my '94?

How do I pull out the passenger seat on my \'94? I want to switch the seats because the bolster on the driver's side is wearing a bit thin. I got the driver's seat and base out all in one piece in short order, but I can't even get to the back bolts on the passenger seat, it won't go up forward...

Hello, im new to this forum, i have a question for all of you.

Michael, Where do you live? If you reside in a place that has any and I must underline any snow or cold weather, don't consider it at all as a daily driver. Even the best Viper driver would loose this car in a corner when there is a hint of ice or wet and cold pavement. It is very touchy on...

    Which Heater is best ?

I got a unit called a "Hot Dawg" (made by Modine) which has a blower with it, and it hangs from the ceiling like a unit heater. (1" clearance to combustibles from the top of the unit.) It is very efficient, and is also a "dry" heat, no moisture associated with it. Whatever you do, do not get a...

    Heater not Working

If you drive for any amount of time, the engine heat will soak into the car anyway. But, maybe you have an air pocket in the heater line, and try different settings on the heater and AC control, it does not work like most other cars, as previous posts have said. Can you see the cable...

Can I swap the passenger seat for the driver's seat?

Re: Can I swap the passenger seat for the driver\'s seat? Great tips Doug and all the rest of you guys! It is the side bolster that is wearing because the @#$* thing is vinyl and not leather! Geez, you would think it would be made out of leather so it would stand up to much more wear and...

Can I swap the passenger seat for the driver's seat?

Can I swap the passenger seat for the driver\'s seat? Can the driver's seat be removed and replaced directly with the passenger seat on the '94's? There is a bit of wear showing up on the left side of the seat from getting in and out of the car, and I wonder if a simple fix for now is just to...

A few hints for anyone who wants a heated garage (long but worth the read I think!)

I put the Viper in its winter home all by itself in November, no other car or other toys go in it after that, so no snow, etc gets in there. Since Tuesday night when I finshed the heater installation, (still some odds and ends to clean up), all the moisture on the floor, doors, windows, is...

A few hints for anyone who wants a heated garage (long but worth the read I think!)

Adam, I consulted with the local dealer I bought the unit from (this is why sometimes it is better to buy from a local dealer than on the internet), and he took me through all of it, step by step. I also have some experience with plumbing, hanging pipe and pulling wrenches, being in the fire...
