How to fix this imperfection? Pics included...

Sure looks like it's through and requires touch up. Silver is tough to touch-up and make look perfect. While I've never gotten perfect results from it, Langka is said by many to be very good for getting rid of the paint blob after the touch up. If it were mine, I'd get it to a first class body...

Don't install that BS in a Viper. There are a number of things you install on the garage wall and set a distance that they illuminate. This is...

Junkman- best way to get rid of windshield water spots?

Full house ionizer is not what you want. Too expense to run and removes all minerals which are beneficial to drinking water. (We have a well and installed a Hague system for water treatment including PH correction, filter, and water softener. We also installed an reverse osmosis drinkng water...

What shifter do you guys use in place of the stock shifter?

A friend machined a "short shifter" for my '96, very similar to what is in my 2000. We removed the factory "isolator" and replaced it with our new piece. It's about 1" shorter (maybe a bit more) and retains the stock knob. He's supposed to by making more for me. I figured others may want some...

which oil filter people liking now-a-days ?

Well, now I'm confused. I remember reading on this very forum that the new SRT filters was a huge improvement over Mobil 1, Mopar, etc...for Vipers. Even my lowly Gen 1.5 & 2. Now I'm reading here that (at least for my cars) there's nothing special about the SRT filters for my cars. Am I...

Junkman- best way to get rid of windshield water spots?

A water softener won't keep you from getting water spots. You need a de-ionizer.I have one from CR Spotless.

A few towing & tie down questions

I'd agree to using the hooks and the factory installed slots in the frame. However, I would not agree with crossing the straps. I have been trailering since 1995 and was told by an old school trucker that crossing the straps is not what to do. He expained something about raising the center of...

Ever notice that Viper owners also own a Vette as well..

No 'vette here. I was never a 'vette guy. I remember in grade school that a guy near our bus stop had a 1968-70 Stingray and all the kids thought it was cool...except me. My Mom had a 1969 Barracuda that I thought was way cooler than a 'vette. I appreciate what they've done with the 'vette...

    New Bend Pak lift installed

The pro type Rotarys are made here, USA. The "Revolution" Rotary hobbyist type lifts sold against the Bend Pak HD9 (and similar) are made in China. In my opinion, the big deal with 4 posts is the ALI certification.

    New Bend Pak lift installed

It's true...even some of the big names in lift commercially farm out their "hobby" lifts to overseas. With the BendPAk, the electrical-hydaulic unit is made here. Plus, it's ALI certified...the made is USA Backyard Buddy isn't.

    Lift advice

After reading this more carefully, I guess I need to make a few more points. While both my Vipers are stock ride height, they both clear with plenty of room with the optional longer approach ramps. Bend Pak does offer the hydraulic lifts for these four post models. I cannot comment on the...

    Lift advice

I really did alot of homework before making my decision. My decision was based on a few things that I thought were important. In no particular order.... 1. American Lift Institute rated. This is in independent organization that will (or won't) certify lifts for safety reasons. It's based...

If you are in the market for a Viper

GTLaser...correct. Any reputable dealer wouldn't take the risk of rolling back an odometer.

If you are in the market for a Viper

tohot4u....You may have seen a '94 where the leather looked better...but the Gen 1 and Gen2 seats are completely different and comparisons do not apply. Gen 2 leather does get it's "normal" creases much quicker than the earlier cars. Mileage rolled back? Too easy to check on that to play that...

How many miles should a brand new Viper have?

Both of my Vipers were "driven" before they left Mack or CAAP and they have slips in the owner's manuals. My '96 had 25 miles at the conclusion of testing, while my 2000 has 6.

    Paint Correction 2001 Sapphire RT/10

With all due respect for differing views..... About Dawn washes. My understanding...perhaps incorrect....was that Dawn was at about 7-9ph. (I don't recall where that came from.) If so, it's pretty neutral. A lower number would get more acidic as it goes toward 0. My understanding is that many...

    Clean 1995 Black Viper RT

I think only 1996 RTs came with sliding glass side curtains. The 92-95s came with zippered soft windows. With miles that low it could need headgaskets too.

1992 Brakes No Noise No Dust

Jon, how are the red pads for a street car? When I got my greens from you many years ago, I thought the reds were more of a track pad that needed to be warmed up? I was just thinking about swapping to a less dusty pad for my 96.

    Tire Rack & Michelins

It's a loooong story, but to cut to the quick.... I needed a set of Michelins for my 96 RT. I spoke with Jon about this, and he discussed the pros and cons of the different brands available. I wound up with PS2s. It was a trade deal of sorts that worked out great. Jon said the tires would be...

Considering a Gen 1: What to watch out for?

I stand corrected...sort of. I have a 96 RT, which is not really a Gen 1 or a Gen 2. The 998 recall does indeed include the 1996 RT and that was what I was thinking about when I posted. Sorry for the confusion.

Considering a Gen 1: What to watch out for?

No "real" roll up windows until 1997, but then it's not a Gen1 anyhow. A/C from the factory available since 1994. I won't repeat what others have written...all good advice. I would add to check the hood if it's an early (mid 1994 and older) for filler cracking issues. These often resemble...

Any of you all use these type of ramps for smaller servicing?

I too looked at the KwikLift years ago and couldn't justify the expense. In fact, a friend of mine had one. With a "normal" garage ceiling a mid-rise is great for pulling wheels, detailing, etc...and with boards on the floor my Vipers just clear. Mine lifts 50" max.
