Has anyone else installed these? I like fooling around with electronics, and really liked this feature in my truck for backing into my garage that's already tight on space. When I back my Viper in, I have a broom stick that's wrapped in a towel so when I back up, I just stop when the broom stick moves a bit... letting me know i'm 6" away from the wall.... I'd rather get away from this, as it's pretty ghetto.

Anyway, here's a link:

I'd probably install that one, rather than the little digital meter in this one:

The thought of me butchering the bumper puts me off the whole thing.... however, maybe someone has done this and it looks good? or has figured out another way to do this? or would like to talk me out of it?

hahah

Again, I'm just toying with the idea.... not considering yet.

Don't install that BS in a Viper. There are a number of things you install on the garage wall and set a distance that they illuminate.

This is one...http://www.homedepot.com/webapp/wcs...ooglebase-_-D27X-_-100396441&locStoreNum=6866

In my attached garage, it's tight...so I have a similar item on the back wall to let me know when to stop. There are some that give green, yellow...then red when you are in the right spot. Mine has yellow and red LEDs. The yellow flashes faster as you get closer then turns red when it's time to stop. Just position it on the wall so that you can see it through the back window.

Get one of these and aim it for a spot on your dash - Works for me.

I park on a scissor lift so this makes sure I'm positioned in the right spot to lift.

You could go all out like I do and put a mark on the wall with a Sharpie and just line the rear view mirror up with it. Low tech, works perfectly.

how hard is it to park a car ?

Guess it depends who is driving? I back mine in and pull the passenger side close enough to the wall that I can touch the front tire if I turn it to full lock. This is because my wife parks on the other side of the garage. :D

I have a safe in my garage, that's about 3 feet tall - which you cannot see when you're backing into my garage.... and I need to get close enough, so that the garage door can close... which is only a 6" gap. You cannot see the safe when backing up, you almost have to guess. I've never hit it, or had a problem backing into the space - I'm just trying to prevent something which is obviously preventable in case one day I mis-judge and hit it.... cause that safe has >NO< give.
