TEh VEC2 should not require any trailering - you should be able to get a basic setup quickly to at least be able to trundle to a chassis dyno - I actually tune mine on the street with a WB02 meter
In today's world a FMU is like stone knives and bearskins. The biggest two problems are that FMUs bump fuel pressure linearly with boost, but fuel flow goes up as the square root of pressure, so you are either too rich at low boost or too lean at high boost. The other problem is that high fuel...
cars don't cause divorces, they are at most a catalyst. no way a loving spouse would complain about something the other spouse dealy wants to have or do and no way the other spouse would do or have something that might wreak financial ruin on the household. An arbitrary ultimatum is just a...
My '03 did this the 3rd day I owned it, just started dragging brakes. Turned out to be the brake booster. YOu are the first other person I have heard having this problem, don't know if it is widespread in any way, but do have the booster checked.
PS it only happended with the car warm, after...
I just love the valve guide business. I have a '95 355, which has had no issues at all. No oil consumption, no smoke, it just runs and drives great. It has no power compared to a Viper, though.
Ask someone to tell you what SYMPTOMS of valve guide problems they had other than a mechanic...
My Gallardo is a 6-speed; the e-gear was neat, but I did not like the slow-speed control of the clutch and the 6-speed shifts so beutifully I decided to enjoy the more actrive driving experience. I like to think I will have greater clutch longevity self-shifting, too.
Don't discount the Gallardo too easily on any count. I just purchased one and it has been a much better experience than my SRT so far. My SRT is gone, but I still have my GENII GTS and I expect it to be faster with Roe S/C, but the Gallardo is world class in fit, finish and is so much more...
Re: TORQUE Gains
Oh wow, be careful here! Forget the power issue - if it is not a careful and reputable "re-work" the screws for the throttle plate could come out and severely damage the engine. This anonymous and extraordianry claim would have me inquiring very, very carefully about the...
For the knock sensors, has anyone actually tried knock control on the Viper to confirm that it works properly (many cars have too much mechanical noise to work correctly) and where do you physically attach the sensors (this can be very significant and affect their performance and I'd like to...
I noticed a mention of knock control - to my knowledge, there are no knock sensors on the Viper - does the AEM also include knock sensors?
Also, wide-band O2 sensors need more wires than stock, how does this "plug and play?" Is there a separate O2 sesnsor wiring harness?
Finally, for factory...
It's to look like a race car, as best I can tell, unless you want to cut a hole and do some ducting. For a track car, I can maybe see having one, otherwise, not my cup of tea.
Looks pretty hard to me and get ready, it's going to be a motorsports sensation here - maybe not NASCAR, but it will be popular - even SCCA is sanctioning the events.
I thought it was pretty entertaining and impressive.
It's this kind of candor and his helpful support that makes Sean unique. Sure there are some great aftermarket supporters out there, but I have to give Sean kudos for being forthcoming, helpful and informative to the DIY guy who gets at least half the fun out of knowing how it works and the...
I appreciate the work and craftsmanship, but I must be getting old, because I just don't get the need for a video screen in a two-seat sports car. Me, I'm either watching what I'm doing while driving or, if I want to watch video or movies, I go to my living room or the theater.
Nice work, though.
Be careful of race tires, the car may have signifacant oil pressure problems when turning left. I have been directly told by Dodge peraonnnel that the car is not considered track-worthy as is, unless you spring for a $1500 swing-arm oil pan modification developed for the Comp Coupe, which I...
I have a ful set of freshly rebuilt Koni 2812s with new springs and the rear yokes that I just never got around to installing that I might sell - much more reasonable than new - closer to a 4 for 1 deal than Phil's quoted numbers.
My personal experience:
48 hours after delivery, Power brake booster failure that caused brakes to drag all the time, with much heat and odor. This was a real blast, because Roadside Assistance had no idea I even owned the car yet - the selling dealer had to intervene and pick up the tab to...
