If they are clear coated, just treat them like regular scratches.
Use something like 3M's Microfinishing Compound to remove the scratches and then shine the clear coat with 3M Finesse It....Available at car paint supply stores.
Re: \"Supertuner Challenge\" in Car and Driver w/o a Viper????
Anybody think it's strange that White Supra just happened to register for the board and come to the defense of Kyle???? Maybe While Supper is actually Kyle?
Re: Help - car won\'t start a dealer!
We should start a list of key indicators that should tell you to go to another dealer. I had a couple recently:
1) When the service writer asks, "Do you want synthetic oil, or just the regular stuff?"
2) When you have to show the tech how to open and...
Jon,
Thanks for your message. Any comment on how the Porterfield's stack up in terms of dust?
Are they the same exact ones from the rear of 94-97 Cobra?
Thanks
Can anyone confirm that they have installed a non-factory brake pad on the rear of their 2001?
I have been working with Wayne at Apex to see if the Hawk pads for a 1994-1997 Mustang Cobra would fit, but Hawk is doubtful and Wayne says it looks different.
I am really looking forward to...
I just took the stock front pads off my car after 8K miles and they looked brand new...
I would not be happy with that car unless it was well below market price.

I don't use ramps or high dollar jacks...
Tools: 2 MVP Jacks from Walmart ($13/each) 2 Jack Stands from Walmart (~$10/each)
1) Remove the metal lift pads (just take cotter pin out of back and remove). This gives a 1/2 lower profile to the jack.
2) Place 1 jack on the rear frame member...
Finally I got this right! After having the dealer clear the computer and installing the Jet Skipshift from Bill at APEX, everything is cool.
Thanks again for everyone's help!

NORM: Thanks for your message. If I screw up again, I will now know to remove the PCM connections as well when trying to clear the check engine light.
Thanks again!
ViperDoctor
If you do, can you confirm that (with proper installation) your check engine light did *not* come on after the installation?
I just had my check engine light cleared by Archer Dodge here in Houston (good service experience) and I don't want to do anything to cause it to come back on and end up...
Well, I unplugged the battery for 45 minutes and I still have the check engine light even though I have restored the skipshift to it's original state.
So, I tried cycling the engine (started and stopped) about 7 times and I still have the light.
Ugh. It looks like a trip to the dealer...
Ugh.
1) I tried reading the codes with the on/off/on/off/on sequence and nothing. I guess that doesn't work with 2001's either.
2) Tried disconnecting the battery to clear the check engine light. Didn't do it. Guess that doesn't work with 2001's either.
3) Took out JET skipshift and put...
Hi,
I just installed the Jet Skipshift connector in my 2001 GTS to hopefully turn off the service engine light.
Well, it's still on. Does that mean that the Jet connector is not working or does it mean I just need to clear the computer to turn off the light?
If I need to clear the computer...
Does anyone know which car/truck Dodge took the calipers for the rear of the 2001 GTS?
I am willing to bet that Dodge did not make the rear calipers specially for the Viper....
If I can find out which car/truck these calipers came from I can see if there are some other types of dustless pads...
Wizard: Thanks for your message. It helps a lot!
I think the lighter circuit is live all the time. I want the radar to turn off when I take the key out (ignition).
As long as you stay on the right side of the fuse, there won't be a safety difference?
ViperDoctor
Intelman34: On dark cars, the streaking shows up with a lot of waxes. You won't notice it as much with light colored cars, but it's there. The best solution is to use an orbital buffer to even out the wax. I use a clean lambs wool pad. It's quick and easy.

Does anyone know which fuse is used for the power windows on a 2001 GTS?
The owners manual has all the fuses listed, but there is no mention of the power windows.
I would like to use this line to power the radar detector.
Thanks,
ViperDoctor
Geez - Summit has a backorder for the JET plug, and none of the JET dealers seem to carry this on their shelves... Northwind doesn't answer their phone either...Any one know of another source for this type of skipshift connector?
Norman: It's really not that easy to get to. I have a 2001 GTS...
