Motor Trend: Mini Cooper Beats SRT in slalom

Actually, in the Feb 02 issue of Motor Trend... Corvette Z06 0-60: 4.07 seconds 0-100: 9.48 seconds 1/4 mile: 12.48 @ 114.9 600ft slalom: 70.3mph 60-0: 104 ft On the day of the Viper test, the Z was considerably off. Furthermore, the best numbers managed for a Viper by Motor Trend were in a...

Motor Trend: Mini Cooper Beats SRT in slalom

Motor Trend: Mini Cooper Beats SRT in slalom

There are really just toooo many variables to even consider that a fair test. Furthermore, as I remember the SRT wasn't even tested on asphalt... Secondly, look at the Z06 specs from the same magazine test as the SRT... 0-60 in 4.6 0-100 in 10.27 1/4 in 12.85 @ 114.36mph slalom at 66.7 mph...

I love motorcycles... they taste like chicken!

Of course, this could all change if Dodge produces the "Tomahawk". That is one scaaaaary bike guys. So Dodge would rule in both cars and bikes ;-)

Doesn't the SRT have a new type of Limited Slip diff?

Re: Doesn\'t the SRT have a new type of Limited Slip diff? As I recall, limited slip rears are best used in a track application.

Still waiting for some actual performance numbers.

After some coaxing of shifting times and amount of wheelspin, I think I got them somewhat decent... Viper GTS: 12.4 seconds @ 118.4 mph Viper SRT-10: 11.9 seconds @ 124.7 mph There are tons of variables, so I'm sure I could get a much more reasonable GTS time. I just don't have the requried...

Still waiting for some actual performance numbers.

Note those rev-limited times from Automobile Magazine, the SRT's hp peak is somewhere around 5600rpm, some 600rpm over the limiter...

    Hmmmmm.....

It looks more Corvette C3 than anything else in my eyes. THe front-end looks like a previous model lotus elise. The rear-end looks a lot like an RT/10's, but then again, the Viper concept was out in '89.

    New SRT-10 Pictures

That's a definite improvement in my eyes. Wow. It just looks Viper now.

Did PVO seriously consider this concept for the SRT?

The one on the far left would be something-like I think a GT1-class superviper would look like. The next one to the right of that one is my personal favorite, getting rid of the side-scallop completely.

the cost of 25 concept cars...

Come to think of it, I prefer the leaner look of the Comp Coupe to the GTS/R Concept. The Concept just seemed a little too "beefy" in my opinion, maybe because it was so low-slung.

the cost of 25 concept cars...

Who knows how much, the Concept car wasn't even built to street legality. (I don't even think it had street legal bumpers)

Dodge... Real photos of Silver and black... Please!

Lets not forget that a great deal of the price probably has to do with making the car emissions and road legal. The regs that this car is designed for are a lot tougher than the ones that the GTS and RT/10 had to follow.

    red srt-modified realistic through aftermarket.

Ugh, "rounding" the corner makes takes away from the bad-*** 'ness of the car. I'm sorry, but the entire design focuses on sharp angles and jagged-work that makes it look mean as hell.

How about this for the SRT-10

Hmmm, it seems to me that most of the people who don't like the SRT-10 love the Gen 2's. Nearly all of my friends feel that the SRT is much more snake-like. Sleeker, stealthier, sexier. It looks like a more modern car, and the rear-end finally looks like it can handle 450+hp. The SRT is a...

the next step: carbon tubbed coupe

Yes, they could run the Viper in GT, but it just wouldn't do much for the brand name, especially if GM keeps the Corvette in GTS. The $80,000 Viper running a class lower than the $49,000 Corvette? That wouldn't look too good, and the taunting would never cease from the Vette guys. I know that...

Comp Coupe at 2004 Le Mans?

Doubtful, since there isn't a 800hp race engine for the comp coupe. The odds of privateers developing one without factory support are near nil. So if there IS a Viper at LeMans, it probably won't last two hours of racing. Since the rules of the classes are changing, It wouldn't be...

    Question for Steve

Cien probably. Word is GM is already contracting out parts houses in Europe and Asia for work on a super-carish project which is most likely the Cien.
