I have Ventureshield applied to the side sills of my 2008. After about seven months the clearbra material is holding up nicely. The side sills seem to be running a bit cooler than my 2006 which definitely cause some hazing and minor cracking on the clearbra on the sidesills.
Due to shoes...
Thanks for the detailed review. One extremely minor correction: The seat bolsters on the Viper are, believe it or not, leather while the seat inserts are synthetic suede, aka alcantara. I do admit, however, that the leather in the Viper does come very close to looking and feeling like vinyl...

I am pretty meticulous (read anal) about installing the tonneau cover to the point where after tucking the leading edge of the middle section I actually tug the edges of the cover to make sure it is as flush as possible before pushing the top down and "locking" it into place (the...

Is it even possible to add a race/shell type seat to a 2008 Viper without interfering with the airbag system and causing an airbag warning light?

I think the bigger concern would be the CEL/codes being thrown. The 2008 is even more susceptible to codes because of the new engine management/ECU programming. I would call Lou Belanger directly and get his input as he is one of the few people outside of Chrsyler to have some real world...
Another tip that I learned the hard way is whenever approaching a steep driveway try if possible to drive up the ramp at an angle. This seems to help maximize ground clearance.

I seem to recall someone on this board or over at the Alley having some custom work done to the stock seats, essentially removing some seat cusion padding material to gain extra head clearance. Would this have a negative impact on any of the airbag sensor components?

As long as you retain the original rolling diameter of the OEM rim/tire combo you should not need to recalibrate your speedo. This is the so-called "plus-sizing" concept:
Tire Tech Information - Speedometer Accuracy
Tire Tech Information - The Plus Concept
Hope this helps.

Agreed on the "torso length" part. I am only about 6' and even with a 1'' lowering kit, the top of my helmet barely falls below my Autoform rollbar.

Given that the non-ACR aero components don't generate as much downforce as the ACR parts, this is less of a concern but on any car that is capable of the speeds/performance of a 2008 Viper I would be reluctant to remove one part of the aero package while retaining the other. The wing will...
Thanks for the setup info SoCal.
I have a standard 08 but also highly recommend switching to the Motul RBF 600 brake fluid. I also went with Stoptech stainless steel brake lines. This is all relatively cheap insurance. After doing a few track schools on the 2008, the most reassuring thing...
The Michelin Pilot Sport ZP (runflat) is actually not a bad wet weather tire and when new should provide fairly good wet traction. As previously posted, it could be that the tires are now too old and need to be replaced. In terms of OEM street/wet weather tire sizes for your Viper, your...
First, welcome to the board.
Next, my understanding is that the 2006 and 2008 coupes (the only year for coupes thus far) are a bit stiffer compared to the convertibles. That being said, the interesting thing about the 2003-2008 Viper convertibles is that the car was designed from the...
One other word of advice in terms of aerodynamics: For you convertible owners, I did a high performance driving school at our local track (PIR) a few weeks ago and noticed while my instructor was driving my car at higher speeds (130+ mph) that the convertible boot cover/tonneau cover was...
Sometimes I scare myself: I actually managed to find the quote from the SRT engineering chat in question:
"Unfortunately, I can not find the wheel weights right now. We can post them next time. However, I can tell you that the 5 spoke, H spoke, and razor wheels are very similar in weight...

I agree; between my cheap camcorder and the small speakers on a computer, the youtube videos don;t fully convey the "surround" sound experience of the Belangers or the stock system for that matter. Nevertheless, for what it's worth, I did record the stock system on the car before...
I seem to recall seeing somewhere (SRT engineering chat perhaps?) that the roadster actually will match the coupe's 202 mph top speed with the top up but with it lowered it will do 197 mph.
Here are some video/sound clips from my 08 with the full Belanger exhaust/header system:
YouTube - 2008 Viper with Belanger Headers and Exhaust (External)
YouTube - 2008 Viper with Belanger Headers and Exhaust (In Car)
I have been very pleased with the Belanger system. To my ear, the...
Ditto; my recollection of a post -- perhaps from an SRT engineering chat -- was that the "regular" SRT-10 aero group on both the coupe and roadster do in fact generate a decent amount of downforce but nowhere near what the ACR aero components generate.

Good points Ken. Not that this is news to anyone but this just confirms the variability in using chassis dynos to determine flywheel hp. It seems that the dyno would be the most effective in determining changes after modifications assuming the use of the same dyno using the same calibrations...
