Does anyone drive in the rain?

All the time. It is not bad for rainy winter driving. Just stay off the throttle. The windshield angle is such that you often don't need the wipers on the freeway and of course, the heater works great. I have found that the dirt actually washes off. It gets much dirtier at the track than in the...

Went in for a free car wash and came out with a totalled Viper!

Get it fixed and you will be fine. My Viper has hit several years ago and I got it fixed, better than new. They took out all the factory orange peel on the doors and put on a new hood and front facia. Also got new tires and refinished all the wheels. They gave me back the damaged parts and I...

    car insurance

I had my Viper hit from the side and have State Farm Insurance. Car had a small crack in hood, 3" tear in facia and scuffed wheel, tire and door. Was the other partys fault. State Farm was great to me, covering the repairs costing 28,000$. They replaced the hood and front facia. They even...

is there a big difference in non abs cars?

Gavin, Thanks for the advice. I do use Motul 600 and just flushed the system with it prior to my last track event (Thunderhill). I am running BM#3 pads all around with StopTech fronts/two piece slotted rotors and slotted rotors on the rear. Also put on rear SS lines. I had overheated the Axxis...

is there a big difference in non abs cars?

That is my experience. I have gotten much better at the track and rarely lock up there and have never flat spotted a tire. In emergency situations on the street I still feel very uncomfortable.

is there a big difference in non abs cars?

Chuck, That may be part of the issue as on my last lockup it was the left front that locked. It is my understanding that it should be the right as there is less weight on the right without a passenger and with the battery on the left.

is there a big difference in non abs cars?

Tom, No poke taken. I have been reading up on your 40mm mod since it first came out shortly after I got the Stoptechs. If I recall, I think the calculations were such that the front/rear caliper area ratio was the same for Stoptech fronts and Stock/40 mm rears. Is the balance really that much...

is there a big difference in non abs cars?

I would definately get ABS. I have a 97 GTS with StopTech fronts and have tried several pad combinations and still get lockup in the fronts too easily. I have done a few Viper Days and several other track events and my threshold braking has imporved a lot. Just the other day however, I was on...

best way to avoid skip shift?

I think there is another connector on the tranny for a reverse lockout or something. You probably pluged it into that. I think I have hit the skip shifter twice in the 6 years I have had the car. It is hard to shift at that low of an rpm to engage it, even if I try.

    Interesting "stock" dyno results

Re: Interesting \"stock\" dyno results If I'm reading that right, I think the -267 HP at 24 mph is a clue that something is amiss.

No instructions with mine. The Illustrated Instructions is for an install from the top. I would like one on how to do it from below. Suppose I could figure it out myself but good instructions would probably save me a few hours.

    Video of my Viper GTS

Nice video. What exhaust do you have? Would be a good reference for people who are wondering what different exhausts sound like.

That's what I needed. I'm ordering the Ford adapter!

    Power brake bleeder

The Motive is great but the universal adapter sucks. The adapter from Miller tools (part #6643a) is 56$. I have heard that the Ford three tab master cylinder cap fits the Gen II Vipers but have not confirmed that for sure.

    cheap mods with decent return??????

If you are doing it on the cheap, just use some truck radiator hose for the smooth tubes. Will cost about 16$ and works just as well.

Engine block coolant drain plug location?

That's it. Take an old 3/8" drive extension and grind it down a bit and it should fit perfect. Quite a bit of coolant will drain from each side so watch out...

Brake pad write up or tool list???

Viper brakes are easier than any other car I have worked on. Sure beats repacking wheel bearings or replacing drum brake pads on my truck. Even my wife's Volvo XC90 requires you to remove the front calipers to change pads.....

Which aspect of the Viper design element DO you like the most?

I like that they are built for the track: Pre tapped for 5 point harnesses, sport shims and adjustable shocks (wish the last was a bit easier!).

Edelbrock Header on a Gen 1

Sounds about right. I think the consensus is that larger throttle bodies without other significant engine mods actually decrease power.

How much rear trunk space in RT-10 roadster vs GTS coupe?

My GTS holds a lot. Easily 6-8 bags of groceries in the back. Even more of coures if you don't have a passenger.
