My first (and only) time at the drag strip in my 97 GTS I pulled a best of 12.27 and was consistently pulling 12.3x's. Very light mods on my car and it really comes down to the driver. Could only pull 60' times of 2.0 and am sure I'd be in the 11's if I could drive!!
Re: Best year\\low priced R\\T 10?
95yellovett,
Of the early Gen I's, I would start out looking at 94's and up. 92 & 93 were more limited production and do have some year specific items (Coolant system, ext. antenna on rear lid deck, etc.) I bought a 94 RT and loved it. Had no problems with...
Jim,
Don't have any FE information (wish I did because I'd love a t-shirt!!), but wanted to let you know that I enjoyed meeting you at our meeting on Saturday. Weather keep attendance down a little, so I hope you'll try us again when mother nature is cooperating!! Please let me know if I can...
I just installed my VEC1 and was curious as to what other 97 owners with light mods (filters, tubes and 3" cat-back) are using for their settings (already did a search for information!!)? I know that Shawn indicated a while back that 96-99 settings may be similar.
Your help is...
I too have heard good things about Roe's filters. FWIW, there is no way to tell that the inner lip of the airbox has been modified without taking a very close look when the lid and filters are out. It's really not a big deal!!
Tried K&N's on my 94 and had to eventually slightly modify the air box per the written instructions. It was no big deal, really!! No problem with fit in my 97 GTS.
Jay,
I sent this guy several links to our site so that he could at least get the number of Vipers made correct. He informed me that he does not believe everything he reads. Well by looking at his ad, it appears that everyone should adopt his why of thinking!!
Funny thing, I even sent him an...
I exchanged some emails with this guy to just to let him know that we are not ALL idiots!! He still believes 93 to be the first year and that no vipers made in 95 had side pipes even after me sending him links to get his facts straight!! It takes all kinds.
BTW, how do you drive over 1500...
McKinney Dodge is a very nice outfit. Keith at Huffines is the only one to service my car and is GREAT. Give him a call like the others said and tell him Kurt says "hi"!!
Traded my 94 RT this past summer for a 97 GTS and couldn't be happier!! I love both cars and it really comes down to personal preference. Have fun making your decision and let me know if I can help.
Just bought the extended warranty on my 97 a few months ago (inservice date of 10/99). It's just an insurance policy that I hope I don't need, but will be glad that I have it if/when the time comes!!! Of course I'll have to wait to supercharge the Viper now

It's totally possible to purchase an extended warranty through a local dealer...
Got a letter in the mail informing me that the models were back ordered and the centerpiece would not ship until 2003 (no mention of when - maybe by VOI ?) Disappointing!!

It was 22 F this morning in Lancaster, PA and I took the Viper out for a 1 hour long spin.
Gave a beating to a Mustang GT, which is always enjoyable.
Who says only TX guys can enjoy Vipers year...
Having owned both, they are VERY different cars!! If money is a major factor, the Gen I is your car. However, if you can, try for a Gen II for many different reasons covered on the board (do a search!)

I would offer $47,000 but would not go any higher than $49,000. Good luck.
