I'm very happy with my dyno result from our Illinois club outing.
I have a 1996 GTS that I just bought last fall. This spring I added a Borla cat-back exhaust, AdderWear smooth tubes and K&N air filters. Pretty basic mods, and since I got the exhaust used (thanks luc) I spent about $850 on the...
I would suspect that they both would be faster for what they were built for. I.e. the Hennessey 800TT would be faster in a 1/4 mile and the ORCA GTS-R would win on a track with twisties.
Roy,
My results from the IL Dyno Day are below. We had a late entrant with a fully prepared race motor from SVS. It was awsome! Loudest thing I have ever heard on a street. I really felt as though I had left the dyno and was at the track. I don't remember what he ran, but I know it was...
Steve, it may be obvious by now, but no rev limiter will save your car is someone down shifts when they want to go up. All rev limiters work by shutting off fuel and/or spark. They can only prevent more RPM if it is caused by a request for more fuel from your accelerator.
The limiter in our...
Sonething's got to be wrong John. I ran 426 rwHP and 466 rwTQ with a 1996 GTS with just a Borla cat-back, smooth tubes, and K&Ns.
BTW do you have any connection to the Viper Club in McHenry on Route 120?
Re: What\'s your other car? (this might be fun)
My 1996 GTS is my daily driver, so long as there is no chance of snow! Complete list below:
1996 Viper GTS
1992 Eagle Talon TSI-AWD (for when it snows)
1992 Suzuki Intruder 800cc (moving to the wife soon)
2001 FXSTD (due to arrive May 19th )...
Scott Tom Welch at BTR Viper seems to be The Man when it comes to NX. I believe that his kit is a do-it-yourself one. Just make sure you have a credit card
1996 GTS - the rawest, most basic GTS. What the designers wanted - before they were forced into watering it down a bit for the owners that thought noise in a car was a problem that had to be solved.
ODBII - On Board Diagnostics rev 2
The original idea of OBD was great. It runs like this. Now that cars have so much measurement capability themselves, why not use the existing vehicle sensors to test the car rather than hooking up a bunch of external test equipment? If the car has an O2...
When I first got my Viper nothing gave me more pleasure than opening the driver's side door. Just walking up to the car and pressing the button, having the door pop open and invite me in. Nothing said "this car is mine" more than that moment.
As the months went on I found a new and better magic...
Mike,
Did I read that correctly? You left your date alone in a restaurant for 20 minutes so you could show off your car to a group of kids? I'm just guessing here, but was that you last date with her?
Contrats! Babies are probaply the only thing more exciting than Vipers. Lots more work but definatly worth it (my daughter just turned 16).
Come to dyno days. Bring the Snake and pictures of the baby. If you are short on time I'll gladly give you my spot in line...
A '95 RT for $30K sound great to me! The type of miles and how well the car was cared for matters a lot more than the number of miles. Does the vehicle have a service history? 30 receipts for oil changes would make me feel real good about this deal...
I haven't had a front plate for 9 years. I've only had 1 ticket for it and I've had plenty of cops that had to walk from the front to the back of the car to get the plate number. Most don't even ask about it.
My best excuse: "Sorry officer, I took the plate off to take some pictures last...
Pete,
Do you have K&N's and Smooth Tubes? I have both with the Borla cat back exhaust and no other performance mods on my '96 GTS. It would be very cool to compare both numbers and sound for your set-up and mine at the dyno on April 28th. I'll be there!
Re: What\'s the best way to drain the cooling system? Also ques on the rubber oring..
If you are going to drain and fill I would recomend adding Sean Roe'e silicone hoses while you're at it. I just got my set a week ago and they look great. I'll be draining and filling myself next week...
Re: \"96 GTS Bucking!
Reggie,
Low speed bucking is almost always throttle cables out of sync. It was certainly the problem on my '96 GTS. The fix is cheap and easy, but even more importantly your out of sync cables may be preventing you from achieving full WOT! Check the tech section and...
April Wine was very big in the middle of Wisconsin were I grew up Steve. Required listening at most parties I attended in the late 70's. Thanks for some good times....
We already have it. There is a number of stars type of rating that is based on the number of posts you have made. On this board you have to go to the member list to see it.
If eldiablo is really RSenn's son lying here on the board to try to convince his dad... Well that is all I would need to know about his character... Don't do it!
I do like the rental idea though... Seems like a good compromise.
