Re: What\'s your Cylinder Index?
Okay, this is already getting out of control - surprise, surprise!! I think that I need to define the rules a little better. Let's try this:
1. Only cylinders that are used in internal or external combustion engines count (no air compressors).
2. Only...
Re: What\'s your Cylinder Index?
We've been using the household "Cylinder Index" as a measure of how much Tim the Tool Man Taylor "guyness" was around the house. And yes, our friend and new Viper owner (and new Viper Club menmber) currently has us beat. Of course, he started this and claims...
Art, sorry to hear of your loss. Our deepest sympathies go out to you and your family.
Thanks for posting your alignment information. It makes for an interesting comparison to our settings. I wish that we did get a chance to get tire temps on more cars as we could gather more information...
I found the following in the latest issue (august 6, 2001) of Automotive News. In a short blurb on page 4 titled "define 'publicly'" was the following write up:
"What you drive says a lot about you. That's the focus of a humorous video BMW's Mini team has been showing employees. Mini USA...
Re: Can\'t get my Optima battery to fit, HELP!!!!!!
Sean, we have done this on 3 cars now. This is the same problem that we found on all 3 - the trays seem very consistent. Its a bit difficult to describe how I have accomplished this but it requires a bit of bending of the tray. Feel free...
Tony, you're right about the using the anti-sub strap with a stock seat. It is too far forward to be as effective as it should be unless you use a race seat with a slot cut in the bottom for the anti-sub to come through. I highly recommend Team Tech 6 points for anyone who is serious about...
So with my track milage of about 4 MPG I should be good for about 800 track miles...and that's probably about when we change it...
In any case Tom's information is why we use Mobil Delvac 1 5W-40 diesel synthetic in our cars. The extra detergents and dispersants in the diesel oil helps...
Art, good to see you on the message board. How about posting your alignment settings for all of us to compare to?? We can always learn more about optimizing settings for the street and track!!
We HIGHLY recommend the Redline power steering fluid. We changed it on our cars and on all of the Viper Days cars that we helped prep. Changing the fluid is very low cost insurance against the possibility of an underhood fire due to overheated power steering fluid. The stock cooler is not...
I wanted to pass on our experience with Team Tech's 6 point harnesses. As you all may be aware we are big supporter's of Team Tech's harnesses. We have been running the 5 points for some time in both of our cars that we run in Viper Days.
Since we are always looking for improvements we...
Tom is a Viper Tech and a good friend to the NC Region. He bought his own DRB so that he could diagnosis cars on his own time and at events such as Viper Days. We're extremely lucky to be able to have Tom as a friend and tech....
Joel. if you have a bettery tender you can leave it hooked up while you disconnect your battery. It will provide wnough power to prevent you from losing any of your PCM settings..
We discovered this accidentally but have now used this for battery replacements on 2 cars...
Jim, we highly recommend the Teamtech harnesses. I was trying to send you a note with more details - for some reason it won't go out right now. I'll put it here instead..
I don't think that the factory ACR belts are as good as the Teamtech's. You will also have a very hard time getting them...
Re: Info on Mobile1 trisyn. 0W-40 \"european car formula\"???
We use Mobil Delvac 1 synthetic in our Vipers as well as our Dodge Cummins Turbo Diesel Dually. Its rated at 5W-40 so it does give wider temperature range protection. Its a little difficult to find - we get it at a Mobil...
Per this week's Automotive News - Chevy expects to sell 30,000 Corvettes in 2002 with 25% of them expected to be Z06's. That's about 7,500 Z06's in 2002 alone. They're going to be common!!!
I'd like to offer a different opinion on Forgelines. We run 5 spoke Forgeline's on both of our cars. Both are run in Viper Days. We have been very happy with the wheels and the support that we get from Forgeline.
The open spoke design combined of the Forgeline 5 spoke helps with air flow...
Jon, I believe that the spare is part of the crash system for the coupes as well. If you look at the rear end of the frame rails you will see a bolt that holds a metal cable to each rail end. This cable apparently starts at one frame rail, passes around the front of the spare tire well, and...
lookin4asnake, the X-GTZ's that were standard equipment on '92 -'95 RT/10's have not been manufactured for a number of years. For future collectibility it MAY be worth having a set for showing. The reality is that a tire this old is probably hard and offers less than optimal traction...
Don and Kevin, you guys think alike. Don's car is a 2000 Steel Grey with Silver Stripes ACR. He also has a TNT cat back (though he also has TNT headers). Small world!!!
Chuck, do you have Porsche air deflectors on your car?? We use them in combination with Stoptech 13" stock replacement rotors, Brakeman #3 pads, SS lines, Titanium pistons, and Castrol SRF with the stock calipers on the fronts of both of our cars. We run in the Super Stock class in Viper Days...
Rendog, I find it much easier to remove the rotor - nothing really to it and it saves unbolting the caliper. My procedure is as follows:
1. Turn rotor so that a wheel stud is at the 12:00 position
2. Remove outer pad
3. Pull rotor away from the car at the 9:00PM position.
4. Wiggle rotor...
Michael, I can help you with the dimensions that we use in our trailer. This is our second one (first one got stolen) and we tie down 2 cars so we have some experience. We use a total of 6 tie downs per car (4 in the front and 2 in the rear) to make it easier to tie the car down. Feel free to...
Michael, good post on the harness install. The alarm cut-off in the center console is something that we didn't have to deal with. If you (or someone else with a console switch equipped car) could take some pictures we could add them to the install instructions....
As to concerns about loading...
From my visit to CAAP I thought that I could share some thoughts on engine running prior to delivery. The engine is not "dyno'ed" at the Mound Road Engine Plant - it is hot tested (if I remember correctly) but it is not actually run like it would be on an enginer dyno. I believe that it is...
Re: Where are the GT-2\'s
The private party un-numbered prototype GT-2 was traded to it's current owner for the Lindamood "Color Me Gone" Max Wedge drag car. This particular GT-2 prototype was featured in numerous magazine articles and it's current owner insisted that it not be repainted or...
