Honestly - I have never had an issue with smooth application of power. There's nothing that says you can't go fast, turn fast, corner, stop - etc - but you don't get in this thing and drive it like a 4 cylinder rental car (the on / off gas pedal... tee hee)
Do people actually get in these...
I fear that no manufacturer really wants to install a stability or traction control system and have it COMPLETELY turn off with the simple push of a button - because - the same folks that are bitching to get it mandatory here will be "turning it off to be a man" or to "get better feel" and wreck...
In 1993, NY started the seatbelt law. I made it my New Years resolution to wear my seat belt. I have NEVER been without one since.
You've gotten your one free pass / blue moon occurrence of "better off without one" (and even THAT is debatable looking at the passenger compartment) but you...
Please wear your seatbelt - ask EMT's how many bodies they've had to cut out of seat belts vs. how many they have to retrieve from outside the car. Luck saved your life - not not wearing a seatbelt.
Glad you're ok - this could have been MUCH worse.
That damage does seem kinda excessive. We've dorked up a bunch of stuff - but never taken out all those components at once. Hmmmm.
I am glad dropping my name instilled such fear - feel free to use it again. ;)
We clip our antisub straps all the time - even in the racecar - you can safety wire them so that the clips are unable to open. Especially in a street car, you want the clips so that you can move them out of the way.
I suspect it's the slave - we've had that go out and the symptoms were the same. Folks will tell you that that "doesn't make sense", but that's what it is.
Do come - VIR is an outstanding track, a safe track, and an excellent facility. Stay AT THE TRACK and you won't miss a thing.
To get your car ready, you'll need to either a) have a hardtop and b) reserve a free rental hardtop early with Courtney. You'll need to change your brake fluid to a...
We're using Castrol SRF - but that's because Henry likes to pee money away and like "consistency" in fluids. If I had DOT4 brake fluid around, I'd just do that. Keeping it clean is good - it sure as heck doesn't need the high temp and low hygroscopic nature of expensive brake fluid.
And thank...
We've been using a "my-t-vac" with a very fine tip and suctioning out through the loosened bleed screw on the bellhousing for a few years now. One person sucks :D and the other keeps the reservoir filled.
We've found that the stuff gets pretty nasty, but has never caused a failure. Also...
Re: I can\'t get into my gallery and upload...............
I am sorry, that's not good enough. You said "quickly" and by God, I want quickly. Since this didn't happen - I think that there ought to be REAL CONSEQUENCES. I am thinking human sacrifice. Pick a National Officer - marshall goes...
Then use them for fog lights - truly - that is all they are good for.
The holes for the lights point DIRECTLY at the tire. Trying to use that low pressure area that would require about 6 right angle bends to get to the brakes with NO ROOM is futile.
I am sure they will be sued, but would you sue a homeowner if you crashed into their house because it was too close to the road????
Stay on the road - single car accidents are quite easy to pinpoint fault.
Overall - very sad.
There was a barn a bit behind the trailer.... That was a horrific high speed hit - and the driver was ejected over 60 feet from the vehicle. RIP Anthony Burgee (sp?)
Re: WOW.... VCA... WOW... JUST WOW... (super long post so get comfortable..
Be safe and keep your head down. Thank you for your service - in a BIG way.
City - believe me I am NOT always right - but this one - I was so impressed with the roll bar - and we had such a problem cutting it out to remove weight (did I mention that it was HEAVY???) that it stuck in my head. again - always condfident in the structure of the RT/GTS.
Hardviper -it's not...
I believe the structures are identical. The internal piece of the "sport bar" is a 1" x 2" box tubing piece that is seriously strong, tough to cut and amazingly well attached to the car. We gut out of the first race car we had and it was a BEAR to remove - I have always felt confortable with...
