I heard that if you leave it on stands and remove the tires it might harm the suspension. I would just inflat the tires to max psi and be done with it. I only store mine from about mid December to April, and in that time I make sure to move it so flat spotting does not occur.
Change the oil before you put it away. Driving it a few times after it is change will not hurt. Once coming out of hibernation, no need to change perfectly good oil again, wait until hibernation time comes around. Full tank of gas, battery tender, place plastic tarp under the car, inflat...
$3700+ for one side sill is ridiculous. Anybody want to elaborate on why they are so expensive? Geez, to do both sides, with painting you are looking at $8000+.
I really do not understand this either. I have had my car for almost 2 years and have never gotten the car sideways or lost control (knock on wood). Whenever I do punch it, I make sure I keep the car straight and let off of it going around corners. I have not tried to ever launch the car hard...
Here is a pic of my car with Cognac Connelly Int. Personally I think it looks good on dark colored cars. It really offsets the black ext. Not really that good of a pic, but it is all I have here.
If you store it, I would not start it again until you are ready to take it for a good ride. Starting the engine for 10-20 minutes every few weeks is harmful to it. Just let it sit until you are ready to take it out of storage and take it for a good ride. As for the oil, driving it a few times...
If I am not mistaken the GTSR block is the same as a regular viper block. I do not think there was anything special done to them.....I could be wrong though.
Everyone,
I followed these steps (http://forums.viperclub.org/showthread.php?t=603751) as well and it worked great. The ramps do not move when driving up on them and I do not have the rubber pieces on the bottom, they are probably about 50-60 pounds because I did not cut the holes in the...
These are the steps that I took to winterize my car (99 RT/10) last winter, which was the first winter I had the car. I do not have a heated garage, so keep that in mind.
1. I went to home depot and got a large pastic tarp to put on the floor.
2. Bought a float mode battery charger that...
Probably should have searched first, but anyone looking here is a great link for this topic:

I took my viper to basketball on saturday morning to a pretty nice area where I could see my car while I was playing. I start to park the car and it seems I am pretty far away from the curb, so I decide to try and get closer. Bang!!!...I hit the curb with the front rim and banged up the edge...
PAvenomRT/10,
How much pressure did you apply when you removed the plugs with that tool? I didn't apply too much because I didn't want to break something, but maybe I wasn't applying enough.
Cop Magnet,
I could use the torque wrench to remove them or even a rachet...but I do not have the right extension peice to use to get to the plugs. Why?
Yeah, but I didn't want to pay $60 for that extension piece that you suggested, and I was at autozone and saw this so I thought I would give it a shot for $5. Maybe I will try applying some more pressure this weekend and see if I can get them loose. I do have a torque wrench, but it is too big...
Glad to hear you got a fair amount for your car. For the next viper I would suggest getting an agreeded upon value policy from Hagarty or Grundy. I have a policy with Grundy for 50K on my 99RT/10 and I pay a little under $800 per year on it.
I agree with what all you guys are saying 100%. I personally did not know anyone close or even an aquaintance that died as a result of that horrific day. I was actually thinking about this the other day and here are some of my observations.
I do not think people forget, but life goes on...
Chuck,
Just wondering what your experience has taught you when changing Viper spark plugs. Do you use anti-seizing compound on the threads before installing the plugs? I posted a topic here (http://forums.viperclub.org/showthread.php?t=605783) for the answer, but everyone had differing...
So I still do not know what the answer is? Do I use anti-seizing compound or not? I would guess Tator would know the definitive answer to this question. The manual does say to torque to 20 ft lbs which is what I will do.
