Advice on removing & cleaning the oil pressure relief valve on Gen III? (80 PSI)

If it were me, I'd manually check the oil pressure and the oil temp before digging into the pressure relief valve - those don't often fail in the "closed" position - they usually fail in the "open" position (get crud stuck in them) where you'll have really horrible idle oil pressure. Did you...

What parts will the Gen 5 and Gen 4 Share?

The cigarette lighter will probably be the same. They've used that same one in a bunch of generations.

Oil Pan Drain Plug Torque Spec?

It might be different. The different tail section of the car and the revised 5th gear make it a totally different car.

2008 Gen IV Dyno Run - Corsa Catbacks

Do you have 'before' numbers, and did you do the hi-flow cats, too? Is it a 3" system? I'm curious about what kinds of gains people are seeing from the hi-flow cats and cat-back system. I 'think' the system is good for about 15 rwhp, but it would be interesting to see some stats.

Blast from the Past ! Membership Cost & GTS Order Form

Those were the days... We were just coming out of a recession, and the dot-com mania was just starting. I was trying to order a '96 GTS, and most dealers were a nightmare to 'deal' with. One guy marked up a showroom GTS to $120k and wouldn't budge from the price. I ended up putting in an...

    Borla on '97 GTS

The Borla headers are iffy as far as whether they're worth it or not. I don't think they've been sold forever, and to be honest I don't remember much about them other than they were good quality, but so-so from a performance standpoint. The old style Borla cat-back is great. The only two...

Gen 2 RT/10 unstable at high speed. why?

The RT/10 is a lot less aerodynamic than the GTS, so at high speeds, it will get a lot more squirrely than a GTS. I don't think that would happen at 85 mph, though, so checking the alignment and the tires would probably be a good idea... For anyone that cares, the RT/10 is a horrible...

    Winch suggestions

I have a Superwinch UT3000 that is perfect. It's strong enough to pull any car onto the trailer, but doesn't drain the battery much at all. It's also lightweight, easy to attach to ball hitches, and can be easily mounted to multiple locations (onto lift, into trailer, hung off the ball hitch)...

    No Front Plate in Nebraska

It's kind of funny that in CA, about half the cars on the road have no front plate. I've had out of state visitors comment about the law, or lack thereof. About the only times I've heard of anyone getting a ticket is if they're teenagers driving a ricer, or if they mouthed off to a cop at the...

    Valve train noise

For a B/W GTS, you're probably best off leaving it as stock as possible - and keeping all the original parts if you do replace some things. Replacing the stock airfilters with K&N filters, and replacing the corrugated intake tubes with smooth silicone tubes will net you around an extra 5-10HP...

    Valve train noise

My '97 made a lot of noise from the start, and it bothered me at first. I brought it back to the dealer right after I bought it, and we listened to it, then listened to another '97 and the noise was basically the same. They have very loud injectors, so the clicking sound you hear is most...

Dyno Results Stock 2008 SRT-10 Convert

There's actually quite a bit of 'cheap' horsepower to be gotten from improving the efficiency of the drivetrain. Small changes like tranny oil, gear oil, and tire pressure can yield a couple percentage points of drivetrain efficiency improvement. In general, for a manual car with gears and...

The 'Ring doubters are already starting to come out of the woodwork :)

Maybe Autoweek has a point... It looks like the car possibly had the radio removed from it, so it's technically not stock. It also had cameras mounted on it, which clearly aren't stock. I'm sure that made all the difference in the world - I'm surprised the author didn't catch those things...

The 'Ring doubters are already starting to come out of the woodwork :)

I thought most of it was at least amusing - but when they mentioned doubts about the street legal tires, the revised fifth gear, and the adjustable aero components, I discounted the whole article as being stupid. Those were 100% stock, off the showroom floor, cars... It's funny that the writer...

The 'Ring doubters are already starting to come out of the woodwork :)

I hope this isn't a re-post - sorry if it is... Also, sorry to Bruce for hijacking another thread with this - once I posted it, I couldn't figure out how to delete it... Anyhow, Autoweek came out with a "Not so fast, Dodge" article yesterday. It's a funny read. Aside from overstating the...

    SRT Experience

Bummer - that's what I thought... I really wanted to take advantage of it during the year after I bought my ACR, but I kept getting stuck doing extended business trips and just couldn't make the schedule work. Oh well, maybe I'll do it the next time I buy an SRT car...

    SRT Experience

How long do we have before the SRT Experience event expires? I thought it was only good for 12 months since I bought my '09 ACR, so I kind of wiped it off my list of things to do. If it's still good, I'm going to see if I can do it. Had I known there was one in Vegas recently, that would have...

    Hi from Australia!

I may not be totally up to date on the laws, but the "25 year old rule" is a bit misinterpreted. The way the law is worded is that the car must be pre-1989 built, and I don't think that date changes... There is another provision in the law that further exempts cars that are 30 years old or...

    Hi from Australia!

My company is based in Oz, and I've thought about moving over there several times over the years - and looked into what it would take to bring my Vipers with me. It's definitely not an easy process... I thought I could put them in a shipping container, get them into a garage someplace, and...

    supercharger loosing performance

I'm guessing you checked all the obvious things like clogged air filter, loose serpentine belt, and don't have any bad noises coming out of the blower (bearings going out). Have you run it on a dyno while hooked up to a data acquisition device? If it's doing funny things, the best thing to do...

    Wondering wich supercharger is louder??

Nothing sounds as good as an old GM 6-71 blower - but about the closest you can get to that is a Whipple-style blower (Roe uses them). The Whipple blowers have an interesting sound to them - not the high-pitched whine of the old 6-71 blowers, but a cool 'rhythmic' sound that's hard to describe...

Rearend noise in 08 ACR when turning right

Good thing to keep an eye on - I didn't know the e-brake calipers/pads had issues. By the way, my rearend makes a noise whenever someone pulls my finger. That's probably a different issue, though.

1 of 7 Gold wheels again???

Don't these have a unique part number on them that shows what they are? Or, did the manufacturer just take a standard set of wheels and paint over them? If the manufacturer just painted over the wheels, then they're not worth much more than a standard set in my opinion - even if they're...

K&N Smooth Tube and filters Squeal?

If you removed two tubes, wouldn't that mean that you installed it on your Gen II car? If you installed it on your Gen II, the whistling/whooshing sound at idle and at off-idle throttle opening is normal. That sound is one of the reasons the car originally came with the setup it did (paper...

Anyone here live in California and want to help out fellow member (and make money)?

Re: Anyone here live in California and want to help out fellow member (and make money In Compton? Holy cow, I don't know if I'd want to go there and look over a Viper... I'll bet if you arranged for the owner to meet someone in Redondo or Hermosa, you might get a few offers. For me at least...
