So you're putting forth the notion that drivers cannot make errors on Laguna Seca and that the Gen 5 lost by 2 seconds...

Already posted here, but here are the official records from that track. The GTS is listed at #4 with 1:34.23 while the...
The Viper never really died. Chrysler wisely chose the economic downturn to stop offering the viper so they could redesign and improve it, releasing it again at a time when it would have a better opportunity to sell.
Actually, it does. If I'm paying 6 figures for a car, I don't want it to be...
If people were being heavily subsidized to buy a Viper and Chrysler got a $50K kickback from our blamer-in-chief for selling them, they may sell more. The point is that the Viper is a quality over quantity type of deal and I'm perfectly fine with them selling a few thousand or less each year as...
Considering that "fear" is our reaction to the unknown and things we cannot control, any car that requires driver control and concentration to achieve most of its full potential is going to press that button. Even if you, as a Viper owner, only manage to get 70-80% of the car's potential at the...
Tesla is a company that has been on taxpayer life support like just about every other 'green' company out there...they've been relying on obama's "green economy" initiative which is little more than a fraud free-for-all full of mostly bankrupt solar and battery companies mixed in with a handful...
If by "look up" you mean "open your wallet"...
Pobst missed at least one shift in the video while driving the Viper. Driving a Viper takes skill; it's not something you'll pick up after a lap or two during a mag review...especially if most of the cars you're "driving" are glorified automatics...
Pretty sure that the thread wants to hear from people who actually have the means to buy the car, but chose not to in lieu of another car.
People who complain about price automatically relegate themselves to the "can't afford it now, probably never will" camp.
People who complain about...
People who don't have any experience with the car in question shouldn't be making comments one way or the other, however people feel entitled to come in here and make ridiculous claims about non-existent problems or issues, which are little more than an attempt to make themselves feel better...
If people are calling the Gen V too expensive they're probably either poor, pretender, wannabe or etc. Anyone seriously considering a car over $100K should just accept that they've already decided that they're going to spend a lot of money on a toy, and that affordability is not really part of...
And having owned and put thousands of miles on the Viper in a few short months I can say it's easily worth it's MSRP.
I think anyone who is bringing up minutia like plastic vent inserts and window switches is clearly looking for excuses to not buy the viper. The windows in my Viper work fine -...
You're right - now if only SRT was sharing this information with potential buyers by running ads for the Viper - and I don't mean ads for SRT's entire lineup, I mean ads specifically for the viper. I appreciate SRT's participation in racing events but that alone isn't going to translate to...
Yes, and it looks like we agree about the C7. I do think it's design will look "old" after a year or two, plus it is inevitable that we'll be seeing them all over the place.
Fcuk the EPA. The auto industry needs to stop playing along with this baseless eco-turd garbage they keep trying to...
The car is fine. If they want it to sell more (read: attract NEW customers and not existing/previous viper owners) they have to advertise more aggressively in the appropriate venues.
Also, totally disagree with the "It looks like a Gen 2 so it looks old" sentiment. The Gen 2 and now improved...
Robocop?
The $16K price tag is a joke...a true test of "it's worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it". I'm not planning to shell out much more than $3K for CF parts so I hope they price accordingly or are willing to negotiate.
I think SRT is capable of doing "manufacturing on demand" for these parts. They're already equipped to produce them. Even if they drag their feet and take 2-4 weeks to fill each order, that's better than waiting and not knowing when they parts will be available.
I'm still waiting for the carbon fiber accessories to become available. I want the side vents and the rear panel at first, maybe the x-brace too. Still haven't gotten any updates from my local dealer so can we get an update from SRT or someone about the pricing and availability of these parts?
My mistake - the Viper does have ESC. Good to know...but it's implemented exclusively through the brakes...so it helps with getting around a track but it's still not going to be as effective as a more advanced system in an AWD vehicle, which can recover from more serious loss-of-control...
Just throwing this out there again - ESC = electronic stability control, which is something you get on AWD cars. Involves feeding data from accelerometers and yaw sensors to the ECU, which then adjusts the torque transfer among the wheels in an effort to keep the car going in the direction the...
First of all, LOL @ placing the viper behind a Focus ST. They probably thought along the lines of, "The Viper is so awesome, better than most cars domestic or import, but I'm mad that I'll never be able to own one so I'm going to rate the Focus higher because I have one / can afford one and that...
The OP gets my foodstamp of approval. Just got back from an evening cruise in my Gen 5 and managed to shake up what looked like a "vette club" driving by. At least 5 vettes back to back. It was nice of them to move out of my way.
Keep your Gen 2 if you want, but the Gen 5's TCS is hardly a...
I don't know what SRT's official unit sales target for the Viper is, but 2,000 is not unreasonable, especially if that's worldwide and not limited to the US market. I don't think that Ralph was implying that they can produce exactly 2,000 units in a year, 2,001 would be impossible...even if...
I wasn't talking specifically about the auto industry and I don't think the other guy was either. The issue was whether or not there were a lot of people who could afford a car like the viper in today's economy - the answer is yes. Are 6-figure cars selling in high numbers? No, because there is...
The statements he made regarding his "ideas to fix the viper" didn't cross into the engineering realm in my view, and my statement about him knowing his place simply meant that he is most useful doing what he excels at rather than pretending to be a jackass of all trades. You wouldn't solicit a...
