I have nothing against NA cars, but the thread started with the 1st quote above. The answer is: A Gen III S/C ed car should smoke a Gen IV car in most every situation.
As far as the heat thing goes, I'm guessing it's a moot point for the majority of those who S/C ed their cars. Evan Smith type...
I only go once a year, but my 5 pound Roe has never had a heat problem during the 15-20 minute sessions. I get about 90 miles per event. Of course, we don't have Texas temperatures. I think the warmest track day I remember was 75-80F.
Even if I did get some heat soak, the track makes up less...
True enough. I'm thinkin' my Gen II, 5 pound, trouble free Roes (40K miles between two of them) will keep up with a GEN IV. In fact, I'm guessing I'm a tad bit stronger....maybe more than a tad :) A Gen III adds 55 more HP to the base package before the blower. I would be really surprised if a...
Stock box + Vipair dropped my IAT by about 15F. One snapshot was 25F less on a 90F day. No idea how that translates to power, but it does work a little. I have never used open filters. The Roe duct set up or the home made mod by FE 065 likely cools some more. The trick is to ingest as little air...
I've posted this a few times over the years......but in case you haven't heard it
Crank er up...I'm a 1/4 mile away at the end of the clip.
Belanger headers, no cats, 3" Belanger exhaust, Walker Dynomax 3" race bullet mufflers (comes with the Belanger package)

-5 Bill?? A little balmy I'd say......heck, we tan in that weather. Looks like you could also use a little more snow that the dusting shown in the pics. We're about 180" for the year. Snowbanks here in the hood are 4-6 feet high. .....Be nice if we could share some of that with you. That's what...
Unitrax for me -- complete assembly -- 3.45s. 50,000 miles on them so far with several track sessions in the mix. There's also a Roe blower adding a little strain to the parts the last 30K miles.
No issues whatsoever.

Checking for power is good, but you could still have a bad sensor. The sensor should start getting warm to the touch in 10-15 seconds.
Also...you never want to leave an O2 sensor installed and not have power to it when the engine is running. It will likely be ruined.
Steve
I have 2 of these for a while now. Both work very well. I take the WB sensors out every spring and do the re-cal procedure. They have never needed any adjustment.
I assume you have the WB hanging free in air with power applied to it (plugged into the AF meter). It needs to warm up for a couple...
Remove wheels -- use Simple Green. Cleans immediately. Best all round cleaner I've found so far. Good for most anything. Any good chrome polish works for the outside. I use Never Dull, but have used several different ones over the years.
Steve
Make your own for around the $10 bucks in material it would take to do . ....Wouldn't even have to made with round stock in you had 'other stuff' lying around. Looks like a pretty simple project to me.

I have a friend with a race prepared Miata. Blackhawk Farms road track is his regular track venue. He is a good driver and will routinely wax Vipers ( and most others) on an xcross course, even with his street Miata....me included. PAX number with a blower seals the deal. I was never able to...
I guess you'll have to keep shoppin' around. I have been fully covered every year I've gone since 2002. Non - timed / instructional. I have the local agency check every year before I go knowing that it could change and has for many. I was on a track once a couple years ago where a guy incurred...
I absolutely agree....but you don't need to do this to get a taste of what it's like. If you like, by all means do a school and set your car up. Bang for the buck.....the Spring Mountain 3 day course in NV may still be one of the best. I did in the spring of 2002. Over 325 track miles in a ZO6...
First off: Robert.....I don't think you want to run that machine on a track. :2tu:
I agree, but to go a step further.....you don't need to race wheel to wheel or do time trial stuff to have a thoroughly enjoyable day at a road race track once in a while. Very minimal cost.... Get your car...
There are over 400 Roe blowers out there. They are a proven product. As stated above, the autorotor unit is extremely efficient and reliable. Sean researched everything around a 5 pound kit. They work pretty flawlessly at that boost. Then the "too much HP is never enough" spirit came along and...
This above my pay grade. I know simple things. I assume LTFT is zeroed out before tuning....not that it would make a big difference if it was well within +/- parameters (mine set a lean code on one car and was running -25% on the other when we got it -- because the OEM O2 was in the 3rd Belanger...
I have always heard the Paxton GEN II kit is not for novices.
The Roe is a completely different animal from the Paxton for tuning. The Roe does not sense SC air charge temp (like the Paxton)...only IAT from the airbox. ...kind of an Achilles heel. Our car has never been on a dyno, but has been...
Thanks for the compliment. I know there are many here more knowledgable than me. I just happen to share my experience maybe a little more. Damn Yankee and I have very similar cars except for exhaust. He & I talked a fair amount back when we were doing this. It was a true DIY project for me...
I agree….no need for forged pistons with a basic 5 pound Roe set up (6.5 with w/m). I have 40,000 miles on such set ups and zero issues. If you go with a 5 pounder, HS roller rockers are plenty good. I believe that’s what Sean has had on his ‘mule’ car for many years now.
I kind of disagree...
Good job! Glad the write up helped. Makes sure the main fuel line connection is snapped in good and tight. I had an issue there as well. Idling in the garage ... no leaks. Maiden voyage with the frame flexing from my slanted driveway to the level road....that connection wasn't as secure as I...
Sorry for your loss and great that you're OK. Good luck with however this works out. If I'm reading this right, the lesson to take from this is never let traffic pile up behind you while waiting to make a left turn on a 2 lane busy road. It doesn't really matter if you're completely in the...
Top of mirror on the right. (like Kevans above) Tucks in there perfectly with the standard V1 suction cup. Not only does a little more height make it better for doing it's job, there is no vision obstruction. Field of view in a Viper is limited to start with.
