Hello to All,
Does anyone have a guide to installing the belly pans on a 2005 convertible. Last summer, I had 3.55 differential gears installed in my 2005 Viper convertible. I had the guy leave the belly pans off to break in the new gears. The guy is no longer in business.
I changed mine out with Red Line MTL 75w80 recently. No miracle but it is quiet, no rattle. Seems to shift about the same as before. Probably had the original lube in it. Tranny seems to shift smoother once everything gets warmed up. It will probably be a little stiff in cold weather but I...
You are probably right. My car is pretty much bone stock except for an underdrive pulley and a 3.55 rear end. Probably best to keep it looking stock to maximize the resale value. I am going to try the shorter shifter stalk but a new owner could always put the long one back on.
Good evening! I'm 72 years old and I've owned and worked on a lot of cars in my day. Every time I wanted to change spark plugs it was always a simple matter of pulling the spark plug boots and removing the plugs. I want to try a set of Pulstar plugs with a slightly wider gap. Trying to pull...
I think maybe I didn't clarify. There is an S1 shifter that converts our H shifter pattern to a sequential on our stock transmissions. You still need to use the clutch but just pulling straight back to upshift and push forward to downshift has a great appeal to me. It's about $1500 bucks but...
I don't have a lot to add here but FYI, I just had my ring and pinion swapped from 3.07 to the 3.55 and it is definitely the way to go. 6th gear still only tachs 1500 at 70mph so I have actually began to use it occasionally lol
Good day!
I am intrigued with the concept of a sequential shifter. Just wondering if any Gen 3 owners have any real world experience with these. And can it be a clean install without hacking up the center console?
Dan,
Thanks for your reply. I'm thinking about cats and flow through mufflers. I'm installing underdrive pulleys and Pulstar plugs but that's about all I intend to do. Is there a pre-made tune for my car?
I just started reading about SCT tuners. Is there any safe HP to be found from an out of the box tune for a pretty much stock 2005 Gen 3? I looked at every centimeter of their website and there isn't a phone number to be found anywhere. Maybe someone has done the heavy lifting and created a...
Thanks guys. Yes although Indiana does not do emission testing I will likely be selling the car sometime in the next year or so. No cats will be problematic for some states but I would love to run it with test tubes. I doubt there is a shop that would remove my cats unless I hauled it in on a...
I am still in the break-in phase of the new gears so I haven't buried my foot all the way in 1st yet. But for what little horsing around I have done, 1st is a lot meaner and feels more appropriate for the car. Yes I'm sure you can smoke the tires by simply putting the pedal to the metal but...
I'm looking for recommendations for the best flowing cats for my 2005 convertible. It's pretty much stock with only the addition of underdrive pulleys and 3.55 gears. I would also appreciate hearing from guys that have replaced the cats and mufflers. I would be happy if it's a little louder...
For anyone with a mostly stock Viper with the 3.07 ring & pinion that is considering the 3.55... do it! It will wake up your car making it much more fun to drive. Will it make the car any faster zero to 60 or in the 1/4 mile, probably not but the seat of the pants feel on the street is awesome...
Okay thanks for that. I'll follow up if I do notice any significant lowering of the cabin temps. I'm not too worried about aerodynamics as I don't plan to take it to the track and I only drive over the speed limit for that occasional burst. My car is pretty much a garage queen that only gets...
I just purchased a 2005 Convertible and I plan to have a 3.55 differential installed very soon. Is there any reason I can't leave the belly pan off of the car for the break-in of the ring and pinion so I don't have to take it off again just to replace the differential lube after the 500 mile...
Sorry to change the thread... I recently purchased a 2005 (Gen 3) convertible with 23k miles. I am having a 3:55 differential installed and the tranny fluid changed. Since it is recommended that the rear-end gear lube be drained and replaced after the first 500 miles my question is will it be...
