I got a call from a friend and he wanted to know the current value of a 1998 GT2. It has @ 10k mileage on it. Excellent condition but it does have a replacement motor done under warranty. Any ideas here? I might be a buyer for it if it could be bought right. So what is a fair markter value for these cars?

Since only 100 were made the motor replacement will be a significant blow to the value.

The motor has a VIN stamping on it. If the engine is not original it should not be worth as much as a comparible GT2 with the original motor.

I love the combo, My local Dodge Dealer screwed me out of one :evilmad:

So did my dealer. Car came in, I was out racing. I left message with both owner of dealership & Vipersales person. When i go back it was gone. They lost a very good customer. I have never purchased another Dodge product from their dealership since. Barbera Dodge Sales *****.....

I have been told by several other members that there are no VINs
on the motors -and no other serial sequence linking a motor to a
specific car. I thought it was odd too, but apparently true. Still,
if the motor was done under warranty then there is no way to hide
it with a VIP search on the VIN: it'll list all warranty and/or
dealership repairs.

I seemed to remember a few of these going for $95-120k in 2005. I wonder if they've been hit like most other high end car values... Still my favorite Viper of all time! What is the seller asking for that car w/ 10k?

Last month I was looking to replace my ACR & found a dealer in Cal that had 2 GT2's. He wanted $95000 for a nice 1 w/ 16000 miles & I believe $115000 for a very low mile 1.

Does anyone feel that the 06 VOI9 coupe (same color combo and 100 count) help, hurt or have no impact on the original '98 white/blue GT2?

Dang.... I have a stack of these somewhere :) If I sell ten of them, I can buy the trim for my project Viper :)

If the original engine was rebuilt under warranty, not that big a deal... if it was replaced with a non-VIN matching engine.... big hit on value.

VIN matching matters a bunch on limited editions.

Bet they are still there, this seems high. Over the years when they have moved through the classifieds, they usually where low 90's. If there are a half dozen openly for sale, that'a a lot more for sale than I've seen in quite a while. But reality is the current value is what the last person paid.... anyone bought one recently?

Both VIN and an engine serial number are stamped on the blocks:

I agree - the VOI9 has nothing in terms of heritage for the
collectors market. The GT2 was in tribute to the viper slaughtering
everyone at the 1997 Lemans, the VOI9 was a tribute to an event
that very few outside of the viper nation have ever even heard of.
Apples to Apples I'm sure in the long run you'll see the Copperhead
values take top honors in the SRT generation. The GT2 was the
most recognizable Gen2 special edition made and is probably the
most valueable seconded only to the RT/ACR raffle car.

Having finally been fortunate to own one I would only consider sell for 100-120k Dollars it is without doubt....'THE VIPER' probably the number 1 and 100 being next valuble to my #52 which was Justin Bells old car he won the championship in GT2 car #52. Justin ordered the car while having had too much to drink at the celebrations for the third Le Mans win, when it was delivered he could not afford to pay for it so he struck a deal with DC in the UK to share the car with them and use it for promotional and show use.

On the GEN III I think that the Specials will not be worth any more but may be a lot easier to sell than stock colour SRT's

I think that Neil-UK and Walker must be referring to the same two cars offered at dodgevipersforsale. $95K for the 16,000 mile car and $115K for the 6000 mile car? The pristine looking one with all the autographed photos seems like a better buy at $95K. I would think that, down the line, GT2s with all the autographed photos, pictures, the special car cover, the window sticker, etc. would be the ones to command the really big bucks.

As I recall, there was a GT2 on eBay that reached $112K or so, but didn't meet the reserve. There is occasionally one in DuPont Registry with asking price around $125K.

CCBrian- does the 10K mile GT2 come with the original assembly line photos of the car (or the disposable camera), the car cover, the window sticker, the autographed photos, the signed and numbered prints, the original 5 point racing belts?

I've not had much luck being able to view either number while the engine is in the car... any hints here? I would definitely verify the numbers before buying a GT2 for collecting purposes...

Do you have the header heat shields on by chance? If so, you won't be able to see the stampings
