So they will try to tweak the existing calibration which undoubtedly was done over a considerable period of time to produce X amount of power and durability and still meet EPA specs. This will not be easy and will take time assuming that it is possible at all.

Due respect for the Gen.5,outstanding that Nineball put the whopping to the new Z.But remember that Nineball is the only human that can shift a manual trans.as fast as a instanceious Porsche PDK DCT.Normal average drivers results may have been different..But,the Gen .5 was pulling,it is what it is.This one race,has shown thousands that the Viper can hang or beat the baddest car when operated correctly.(Very Diffcult to do)This is the start of the change in attitude ,that everyone knew in the 90s,the the Viper was the BADDEST car out their.

However,today,many car are extreem...

As,for the new Z,it is still a very nice car for the money and ,like Bob says,GM will NOT let this stand,they will retune these new Zs for sure,esp.the autos, the rusults may be very different...

The automatic Zs should easley run a 11.00 flat at the drag strip with any driver just pushing the gas...

But for now,the Viper is King of the Americam Muscle.....

Bob...watch that Ferrari video a little closer on their second race. You will notice that as the Vette starts to come up on the Ferrari, the Ferrari driver crosses over into the vette's lane. You will see the Vette start to move/drift right and actually crosses the solid white line on the right hand side of the road and he goes onto the shoulder area. The Ferrari ends up in the far right lane which was the lane the Vette was in. The only way that could happen is to cut the Vette off. So not clear if the Ferrari was winning here.

I guess what comes around goes around. When the ZR-1 had its way with the Viper, the community initially went into denial, then started hating on SRT. It'll be interesting to watch the dynamic over at GM. As much as everyone here and there always talks about Ring lap times and handling, bottom line is that these are street cars. Legends are made at the stop light, it's been that way from the beginning. The BS ends right there my friends. Street wars sell cars, SRT apparently recently figured that one out with the Hellcat, let's see if the rumored blown Snakes make it to the streets. When you get your ass handed to you on the street the dialogue ends pretty quick. Uh.....unless it ends up on the web.......

Don't know what Chevy was thinking releasing the Z like this in snake infested waters. I will sit back and watch this play out however. If a retune is done by the aftermarket instead of the factory then stock to stock the snake will remain the champ. I really want to see them head to head on a circuit track just to see if it will be able to at least match the Viper in 1 of its 4 laps lol.
