I received a message from Lou on Friday confirming that things were looking good in terms of plug and play compatibility for the headers. Lou's voice mail message was cutting in and out so I will call him on Monday to discuss but he seemed to mention two issues: (1) that the header bolts shipped with the initial run of headers will no longer work becase a different thread pattern is now being used (he stated that the installer should now use the stock bolts on the car); and (2) something about a heat shield needing to be longer but then his message cut off. Do you know what Lou was talking about in terms of a heat shield? Thanks.

Hi Mark. A 630 RWHP car on a Mustang Dyno would be 787.5 flywheel hp using the 1.1 X Mustang reading divided by .88. Impressive. Did the clutch, tranny, differential and half shafts hold up over time - assuming the owner actually drives the car and uses the power? What do you attribute the differnce in power to?

Rich,
I relayed the findings during the first install to Lou and the flanges on the stock header are about the same as the Belanger so the shorter bolts he usually supplies are not needed, even though the treads are different in these new heads. The shielding he referred to is the extra heat sleeve that we needed to protect the extender harness from the header heat. Minimal trouble really but the install is a bit tricky compared to the Gen3 headers. We had to remove the valve covers to access the top bolts in the headers and then "lift the engine" to get them in easily. This would be a great opportunity to add our engine mounts! sorry for the plug ;) .

Bob,

The dyno we have used over the years uses the RWHP X 1.25 to get the crank numbers, so the number we report is lower than that. We have never had a customer report to us that they have had any trouble with any of these items after receiving the car from us. My thoughts are that if wheel hop and clutch drops are avoided then the stock items will last a very long time. Now if the end user is drag racing with drag radials then they need to expect there will be some chance of the stock system giving up sooner as with any "racing" application. :drive:

We have done almost 100 installs now over the past two years and "knock on wood" have had only one real issue with a blower seal that let go on an early unit. This was fixed overnight for us at Paxton and the owner was only down for 3 days total. Nothing since then and that is impressive regardless of the amount of drivers that really drive their cars "hard" which some do. We have customers with 18K or more on them so I think they are overall a very reliable option for the Gen3 cars. :headbang:

Thanks for the quick reply. I know I have seen posts on this before but what are the advantages of your engine mounts. Also, how much? Thanks.

1. 1.1 X 630 divided by .88 = 787.5; 1.25 X 630 = 787.5. The 1.1 conversion with the 12% assumed drive line loss gives the same result as the 1.25 method.

2. I certainly agree. I have 9400 flawless miles on mine and bless the day back in March, 2006 when I decided not to wait for the next edition and ordered my Woodhouse Prepared ,supercharged black 2006 coupe with Motons, Eibachs, Corsa cat back, swing arm oil pan, and modified shifter.

3. Have a great New Year! Keep those Woodhouse prepped cars coming.

Best to the entire Woodhouse team.

We do use one car enclosed trailers for pick up and delivery and have 5 of them with dedicated Viper handlers so we can pick anything up in a timely manner. Our ship rate is $.67 per mile which is unheard of in todays market. I can try and back haul you for free but that may take a while to happen, remember that if you are out of state and the car is delivered back to you there is no sales tax. This is always a good trade off for the shipping and handling of your Viper.

Mark, is this loaded miles or round trip? If you purchase a car from Woodhouse and are out of state, is delivery included? :D

Price is for round trip... still way cheap! and no the shipping is not included with new car purchases. You may be able to corner Bill with a small discount further than the $.67 though ;-)
