Believe it or not, just pump your tires up to 36psi instead of the factory recommended 29 psi.

( Note these are my personal results and your results may vary, )

Some gas savings makes sense. You're increasing the diameter of your tires, effectively gearing your car slightly taller. In order to increase circumference of your tires by 20% the diameter only needs to be increased by about 1.5 inches, which I suppose is possible with enough extra tire pressure. The downside of course is that your speedo and odo are off (which might throw off your calculation, depending on how you measured distance) and you will have less acceleration in a given gear. You'll also wear your tires prematurely and have less traction.

Fluffy,

I think it may be more related to less friction as the tire grip better now. at 29 psi a burnout left a thin patch on the ground, now a full patch is left and the tires don't spin as easily, and yes, kidney belt now required in the city but highway is way less road noise.

The steel belts in the tire prevent the outside diameter from increasing... so if you are seeing FE gains, it is due to rolling resistance decreases. Some of you may remember the days of fuel economy competitions in the 70's during which people would put as much as 100psi in a set of rib tires to squeeze extra mileage out.

But your viper tires are not going to increase in diameter that much... or else you'd be breaking the cording (nylon / steel belting). Interesting fuel economy increase.

It's a bit like the tortoise and the hare... slow and steady... well okay you won't win the race but you can hit 22+ mpg in your SRT 6th gear freeway 70 mph.
