Picked my 04 middle of last year and have had no issues. Got home from a drive Saturday evening and parked it. Less then 5 minutes home and the smoke detectors were going off. Got the fire out, but not fast enough. Going through state farm on the insurance, but they may total it. Still have to schedule the tow to one of their facilities so they can look at it. Any ideas on what may have started it? Is there even a good place in middle Tennessee to fix it? Just really bummed out over the deal. Any ideas or recommendations would be appreciated.

Clogged/bad catalytic converter.

Maybe $7k with used parts. G3 hoods are plentiful and cheap, $500? Sill and fender $3k Hopefully wiring isn't too bad. Good luck!!! Mike

Gen 3 headers are known to crack (had a cracked header on my Gen 3 a few years back). Could it be that? Thinking it's odd that it would catch fire post parking as opposed to while driving. Looks too far towards the fender to be the fuse box, though much of the electronics are right up against drivers side fender, which was my 2nd guess.

Unlikely to have a cracked headers cause this fire, which is wild that happened. I am with RedtanRT that is could have been a clogged cat. Where in Tennessee? I am up in Johnson City, good bet that is going to be totaled, but you can buy it back and fix, but it looks ugly. I am selling a bunch of Vipers, so if you want a replacement, let me know

I'll update once they do their investigation. Appreciate the feedback. In the Bedford county area, don't really know where I would trust to do any repairs. Thanks again guys.

Amurph, 99RT10GTS has a ton of used viper parts and lot's of knowledge, looks like he's close to you. I've bought parts for my various vipers over the years, sharp guy and fair pricing. If they total your Viper, might be a good deal to buy it back and repair. Or, if they want to fix your Viper check with 99RT about good used parts and save some $$$ Good luck, Mike
