Ok Guys, I want to order me some 19 inch front and 20 inch rear wheels for the SRT-10. I'd like to do that tomorrow, but I have a few questions.

1) What tires fit the 19 inch rears?

2) Will I run into any mechanical issues with the 20 inch rears (emergency brake, etc. ) ?

3) What can I expect in terms of handling/performance changes as compared to running with the stock configuration? I ask because my GTS feels a bit more sloppy with 19" wheels all the way around than it does with 18" all the way around.

I plan on lowering the car an inch or so as well, with a little more drop in the rear since the wheel diameter is increasing the most back there, raising the car up half an inch.

My wheel of choice (after seeing the orange SRT-10) is the HRE 545R, although I am still looking closely at the 547R.

Actually I don't like them as well as the smaller tire with more sidewall. They are quite stiff and seems to bounce more than the 17" that came with the car. I don't think they hold straight accelleration as well either but there is not much choice with this size wheel and tire. I use my smaller ones for any track events and these for "looks".

Greg has an SRT-10 with 20's as well. Greg, how do you like yours?

What about that orange SRT-10? Any comments on the ride from them?

OK, I am going to order the 20 inch HRE wheels for the rears and 19's for the front. Talking to JonB about getting some Aldon shocks to lower the car just over an inch all the way around since the larger wheels will lift the car even more than it is now.

Those of you with the Aldon shocks, are they worth every penny? My car rides VERY stiff right now with the stock set up.

Thinking about getting the 04 red calipers too but $900 seems pricey just to have red painted calipers :-(

Coming from a guy who has 3 Vipers :) Common Manny nothing's too expensive for a little "Bling-Bling" :) Congrats on the new ride!

Manny, are you sure you want 547R's on an SRT? You saw the picture on the other post, right? Those thin spokes just look out of place on the SRT's.

Funny you should mention that. As soon as I saw the Purners on the SRT10, I changed my order to the 545R's. You are right, the open spoke just doesn't look right on the SRT-10 for some reason, at least to me.

Sorry I haven't written sooner, I've had computer issues. Don't think twice about the red calipers. I got them and love them. Everyone comments on how you can see the through the wheels and the red calipers are showing through when driving on the highway. As for the 20 inch rims - don't think twice about those either. I am very shocked how well the car rides whith such large rims and little sidewall. I will say though, If I had it to do over I would do two things: Go 20 inches in the front as well (the current rims the tires sidewall is too large for my taste, I like thin sidewall and a "slammed" lower stance) and get the HRE 847R. My brother just put them on his SL and they look hot. Oh well. Good luck.

1) Greg, are there good tires to fit 20" fronts? Right now, there's only one tire that will fit the 20 inch rears, right? As for the 847's, I originally had my order in for 547R's (almost the same) and changed the order after seeing the 19" Purners on an SRT-10... I just didn't like the look. I like the Purners (I own a set) but just not on the SRT10. Your wheels look fantastic.

2) What kind of drilled/slotted rotors did you get? Does that affect braking performance? The car brakes so well, I don't want to mess it up.

3) When is there going to be a driveline that can handle 1000 RWHP on the SRT-10 so that I can mod mine? Wooooooh!!! You know, I went from a stock Gen 1 with maybe 350 RWHP, to a 525 RWHP Gen 1, then modded that (with juice) to 783 RWHP, then went to an 863 RWHP Gen 2, and now I have a stock SRT10 that needs to be modded to AT LEAST beat the Gen 2... that puts me in the 900+ RWHP range... but if I am going to do this, I want to set some kind of record, or at least get close, you know? I don't think Dr. Roof will let me do this though since he has an SRT-10 too, and I doubt it will remain stock for long.

Red calipers are a must. For sure on black. They look great.

Call Chuck Tator for a great price. Great discount!

Stoptech rotors. I don't see any negatives in breaking since I made the change.

There must be a low profile combo for the front in 20 using the Pzeros that looks good. I can live with the zeros in the rear (they are not that bad). I know what you mean though - it ***** that there is not much choice because of the size of the rear. I prefer a looooow profile tire with a square-look edge. With a lowered car it looks really nice.

I just put in the Belanger header and exhaust, K&N, and 3:55s. It's certainly not 1000hp but it is an improvement over stock.

3 - we are working on a world beating transmission right now. I can't say too much right now because we are still trying to get it beyond prototype stage - what we can say is this - if we find the market will support this (and I think it will) this product will blow your socks off!

There is no peer to it in the world, and unlikely to be one as very few manufacturers could do it to this standard.

I'm in the middle of moving right now so will be able to add more details during July. Sorry I can't give more details right now - I will expalin all when I have some space to give this the attention it deserves - promise

cheers

lol - man I typed that last post a bit quick - sorry for all the typos... it's all go here and I'll be off the air for a few days later this week.

to answer your question - we are trying to get them out this year. Right now that is all we can do, they're busy making boxes for some of the worlds top racing teams, but I've sat down with the CEO and owner and we'll move them along as we can.

Sounds awesome Barry. I know you will have more info next month, but any idea what price range these will fall into, yet? We Viper owners are so eager to get the latest stuff right now. Ha!

Price is something we'll work on as we'd like to sell them for what the factory want to charge us - which means we need to prune them back.... but in context, they simply will have no peer, so the price will be whatever it ends up being. We'll do our best to keep it down, but you can't buy a Rolls Royce for the price of a Camry.

For around the cost of the first powerglide conversion costs (around $20k) we should be able to offer a 6 speed sequential or H pattern (your choice) with synchro that will drive like your stock box, only shift a lot quicker and take twice the torque. Quality control is the best in the industry and if you knew their top customers it speaks for itself. I'll report more next month once I have a chance to progress this further. Thinking customers will go for the sequential (much quicker and easier - no more missed shifts).

For those that will moan about the price consider this...It takes the T-56 around 0.6 seconds to shift each gear on average under high power. These boxes with full synchro will take around 0.2 seconds!

Do the math.

:2tu:

be paitent this one is worth waiting for.... :D

I've experienced the non synchro version and can tell you it is mind blowing - quicker than any auto long as you can get traction.

I'll tell you all about it in July - I'm off the air for a week or two now.... have fun guys.

Tork this box is being talked about on a wheel and tire thread - maybe it is in the wrong spot.
20 grand is a high cost but for a sequential, synchro six speed that can handle 1000lb of torque, well I hope to be one of the first cars to be sporting this new upgrade.
As did TQ, I road in a simaliar tranny this past week and this unit will do wonders for the shift speeds and handle the abuse we drivers will give it.
Can't wait till this product comes out and as TQ mention this company is highly regarded and builds the "best of the best"

For those who went to regular tires over the run-flats I have 2 questions.
1. What do you do about a flat? No spare and no jack make it hard to deal with on the road.
2. What do you do about the lo-tire warning. If the sensors in the run-flats are missing doesn't the warning chime and flash?
Thanks
Andy

The reason I ask is I changed my wheel order on the front wheels from 19 inch HRE's to 20 inch HRE's, this way I have 20 inch all the way around.

The only issue I saw was that in order to keep the wheel diameter the same as the 19, I have to go with a 25 series tire vs. a 30 series tire, and there is only ONE tire that fits that, the Pzero Nero. On the rears I would have the Pzero Rossi's.

Anybody see any issue with tire rub when the car is lowered?
