Sorry if this topic has been discussed previously as I am new to this forum, but my 2001 Viper RT/10 driver side auto door latch won't operate. The passenger side works fine when the fob or the door control switch is depressed. However I get nothing from the driver side mechanism. Is this a bad solenoid or a wiring issue (broken conductor from fatigue of opening and closing of door)? Need help on how to properly diagnose this issue and where to obtain replacement parts if needed. Thanks

I would explore the wiring by the door hinge first...very common to find wire fractures here. Next would be the switch.

By the way, have you checked the emergency door release?

No. Didn't realize I had one. Feel real stupid now. Where is it and how do you operate it? Thx

Also, would you expect the door wire harness wires to fatigue and break only after 12,500 miles? Are they installed at a stress point?

Should be on the door stanchion...a lever that you pull downward that pops door open when lever reaches horizontal. If you need a pic, call me at 317 402 9013 and I will send one to your phone...since Ido not post pics on forums.

Unfortunately, some doors that had "interventions" have been found to have non-functional releases.

Mileage implies use...but does not denote door cycles per say. Some feel that door harness is too short, others feel wire too brittle...or both. In any event, I personally know many folks who have had to repair these wires on Gen II Vipers.

I would strongly recommend that you get at least the 2001 Viper Service Manual. Most folks get them from eBay.

I read somewhere that some have rewired this door harness with all new higher flex wiring. Does anyone know the specifics of this, what gauge to use, and who carries it? Thanks again.
