VERY odd. I could swear that the 2005-2006 ORC is identicle to the 2003-2004. I will have to dig deeper and see if there is actually a change, or if this is just politics as to why one is involved and one is not.
On a side note, to my knowledge there has never been a Viper "actually" have this fault occur.
Whats odd is that they are claiming it to be a "bus overburden" fault causing the ORC to trigger the airbags, and the solution is a "bus filter". While it makes sense... wouldnt it make more sense to simply redesign the ORC so it does not have this issue, especially if the 2005-2006 cars already have this redesigned module?

Just checked Dodge Self Service Recall site with a Member's 2004 Viper VIN...showed NO open recalls...so it must be too early in the process.

Yep, I looked too. Even the Jeep recall from a few months ago has no action yet, only an advanced notice message. Probably will be spring b the time this is sorted.

As if driving the old Dodge Viper (not the fancy new SRT model) isn't intimidating enough, imagine trying to wrangle that V10 beast and then suddenly having the airbags deploy. Yikes. That's apparently what could happen to some 3,660 Viper models from the 2003 and 2004 model years, and as such, Chrysler has issued a recall.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, part of the car's airbag control module may fail, causing the bags or seatbelt pre-tensioners to deploy without warning while the vehicle is in operation. That's a dangerous scenario in any car, let alone one offering insane horsepower a near-total paucity of safety nannies should things get squirrely.
Owners will be notified this month about the recall, though a remedy is not expected to be available until later this year. Scroll down for the full NHTSA statement.

I have had an air bag deploy not on my Viper though , had 2 black eye's and other bruising , and took over 2 months too recover . Hope no one else needlessly goes through it !!!

I have had the airbags deploy in my Viper, but wasn't randomly for no reason.

For a couple of weeks I was starting the car from the back seat until I got to the dealer. Even scarier to think they can deploy unexpectedly while driving the Viper.

I had both my airbags diploy recently in noverember when I hit a tree head on. They worked!!!
This is at the bottom of the advanced notice that we got.

So if none of the Vipers have had the issue, maybe the .03% failure is of the 923,000 Grand Cherokee and Liberty's that were recalled? That would = 277 failures

0.03% of 923,000 is 276.9 failures.
