2004 Heat from Exhausts

Hi.

I've got a 2004 SRT10 with too much heat coming out of the sides (just above the exhausts). The average weather here is well above 100 F.

I was told to wrap the exhaust pipes with heat insulation.

If anyone has done this, can you please share?

I have not heard of wrapping them, but that’s not saying that it won’t be effective! Just that I know nothing of how it may improve the temp issue.

But I did install Borla cat back exhaust for performance and a bonus was the temperature of the side sills is negligible now, much much cooler. There is an H pipe on the factory set up that sits under the cockpit, it connects the left and right exhausts, with the Borlas that pipe is removed so the temperature inside the car improves as well.

Wrapping for the heat will be effective, the downside is that the wrap can cause corrosion issues due to trapped moisture.

Hey..
For the GEN3 a must is to remove the Cross pipe under the sit.
For me that changed a lot the heat of the cabins..
So knowing what I know now is the first thing you should do... Get yourself a Corsa Exhaust and that would solve 90% of the heat.
Let me know how it comes out.

I had mine wrapped with Airplane heat wrap. Had Belanger pipes put on. I also bought the heat insulation and put extra insulation under the carpet and closed off areas where heat came in on my Gen 1

Had mine wrapped with the heat wrap as well. Had a local import auto shop install it. Used a thermal unit and checked the temp directly at the sidewall before installation at and it read 140 degrees. After completed the temp dropped to 84 degrees. Best thing I did to drop the heat.
